The True Story Behind the Original TV Pilot of ‘Charlie’s Angels’
The iconic show got its start as a film in a double-feature lineup.

The pilot for the show was really quite good. It's just too bad that almost everything that made the pilot good was dropped for the series...  ::)

Both of the articles omit that a key supporting role was played by former One Life To Live actor and future Academy Award Winner Tommy Lee Jones. I asked Nancy Barrett about him at 2016 Tarrytown festival. She paused for a second and said that they all thought that he was just a schmuck. Which may well be true but he is a schmuck with an Oscar.

The First Charlie's Angels Episode Featured A Very Young Tommy Lee Jones
The Charlie’s Angels pilot had an unexpected future star in Tommy Lee Jones.

And it even features a screen cap of him from the movie...
