9 Biggest Aaron Spelling Flops: 2000 Malibu Road
The TV producer was so prolific that for each of his hit series was an also-ran that didn’t make it past Season 1.

6 2000 Malibu Road
CBS 1992

Airing just six episodes, the primetime soap 2000 Malibu Road was a very short drive indeed, even with Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Beals playing two of the four women living together in a beach house. Costar Lisa Hartman Black noted that CBS had scheduled the series against Spelling’s hit Melrose Place and the producer was probably between a rock and a hard place.

This show was actually noted for two things: 1) Michael T. Weiss played a fascinating character - but sadly his story was left hanging just as it became its most intriguing, and 2) it's impossible to hear the phrase "Honey bunny" and to not think of this show - anyone else who watched it knows exactly what I mean, right Midnite.  [easter_wink]

Also, saying this show was a flop isn't accurate because it did well enough. The real reason it was canceled is because it cost so much to produce on location in Malibu, particularly renting the house that was one of the primary settings.

2000 Malibu Road was and is one of my guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Don't forget that in addition to Michael T. Weiss, Mitch Ryan was also in the cast
My favorite moment on the show was when the Tuesday Knight (apparently her real name?) put a spell on Scott Bryce's Denise so that he would be impotent with any other woman other than the Drew Barrymore character. Can you imagine if Angelique had done that with Barnabas? It would have been far more efficient!

I haven't watched the show for the longest time. One of these days I should dig out my VHS tapes of it and watch it all over again. I'll be upset for what could have been had it continued, but it would still probably be worth it...

Until then, Honey bunnies!  [easter_wink]
