Horror icon Barbara Steele is back on the autograph circuit. She'll be appeari at Monster Mania at the Hilton Doubletree in Cherry Hill, New Jersey from March 8-March 10. Also on the guest list is Scott Jackson, whose artwork of vampire Barnabas and Carolyn appears on the back cover of the current issue of Scary Monsters.

Barbara Steele has canceled her appearance at Monster Mania. According to their website, she will instead be filming a commercial in Croatia that will be directed by Ridley Scott.

Interesting. It would be great to see her, even if it's only briefly in a commercial. Though I suppose there's no guarantee that the commercial will even play in this country. Situations like this are when I really miss ShadowGram because it would have been likely that Marcy would have reported info that she received directly from Barbara...

And how appropriate it is that the '91 Series slideshow features a Julia quote today:

Ep #1 - Julia: 'I'm quite intrigued.'

There's been a change in someone's schedule and Barbara will be attending the convention after all

Due to recent surgery, Barbara Steele has canceled her appearance at Monster Mania. They are refunding any pre-paid photo ops, so it looks like it's final this time. Especially since the convention is this coming weekend.

Wow - this has been all over the place. It's too bad that the fans who really wanted to see her won't be able to...

I have a signed photo, one that I never even asked her for. Back in '91 I wrote a letter to say how much I was enjoying her version of Julia in the '91 DS. I didn't address it to her or even send it to her, just to the show in general. But apparently my name and address found its way to her and she was gracious enough to send me a photo. Or maybe it was just a case that she'd presigned photos and whoever praised her in a letter to the show got a photo. Who knows? But either way I do consider the signed photo as one of my prized '91 DS possessions.
