No, any property on the Collins estate will do, so even Josette's room is available!

Gee, I thought it was only Collinwood! ?!?   In that case, I change my vote. It's Josette's room for me! ;)

Me too! Thanks so much for posting this, Midnite! I'm borderline obsessed about Seaview Terrace and enjoy seeing any and all pics of it. My dream is to one day visit Newport and have my picture taken there.

I have been given a personal invitation to come up and visit the mansion by the current occupant. The school (Salve Regina) is one of our customers.
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

I'd want to live in David's room - it seems the most "lived in".

I also like the drawing room - I'd love to pour a glass of brandy with Roger (or Naomi) in there and relax :)

I've always wanted to ask where the front door is.  Does it show up in your picture or is it on the other side of the building?

What you see during the voiceovers is actually the back of the house, which faces the ocean.  The front of the house is shown in early eps; remember the scene with the taxi, or Roger's mustang pulling around the front drive?  I don't have a photo handy that shows more of the front, but took this shot of the portico last year.

I know you've seen David looking out one of these windows!

And, for that matter, I assume it's not the real front door we see everyday, since we constantly see them using it.  Is it a duplicate of the real one or just a nice door they created for the show?

The real doors, seen below, inspired the set doors.

For the heck of it, and since we hear characters referring to the front gate of Collinwood, here's what it looks like.  It was sad to see it in much worse shape than 2 years before. :(

You know Salve Regina (sp?) should really consider giving tours of some kind and charging a fee.  They could use the money to maintain the mansion and grounds.  I'd sure hate to see "Collinwood" crumble to the ground.

An excellent idea, CastleBee!  This property is simply too beautiful to be allowed to just waste away.

And Midnite, thanks for posting those great photos!

Did anyone noticed Peter Bradford's comment today to Naomi Collins that he and Victoria ("Vicki") were hiding "on your property"?

In other words, the cemetery IS on Collins property.  And apparently very close to Collinwood (remember Sarah running out of the house directly into the cemetery?).

In "Angelique's Descent," the cemetery is adjacent to Collinwood and the Old House.

I'm trying to remember from the present-day (1970s) storyline if the mausoleum is in the Eagle Hill Cemetery or not. Which cemetery had the mausoleum with Laura Stockbridge Murdoch's tombs?

Eagle Hill cemetary seems to move around at the convenience of the writers/directors. Sometimes it's so far away you have to drive to it. At other times it seems to be right outside the front door of Collinwood. I believe when the place was first mentioned (Mrs. Johnson tells Willie Loomis about the tombs where Naomi, Joshua and Sarah are buried) it was said to be "a mile away" from Collinwood.

Okay, so you've been there too? I'm jealous. Is the house in a state of disrepair? Were you able to go inside? And is it still used for classroom and dorm space by the college? ?!?

Hi Chris #2

Okay, sorry if I too make you jealous  :P
I was there in mid December and was able to go inside and take pictures from inside the foyer. We hit it at a good time, it was a Monday morning, the students were out on Christmas break, and there was a gentleman in there vacuuming the main entryway. As you enter, there is no staircase per se, but there is a beautiful stained glass as you look up to your right. We didn't tour the house (not wanting to overstay our welcome, we were too excited just taking pics of the front door and foyer!), but there was an empty music room straight ahead, that didn't look like much to see.

The day we were there, it was cold, overcast/gloomy, and wet. Perfect Collinwood weather! We too, were saddened of the dilapitated state of the outside of the mansion. Some TLC and that place would be looking great again. I'm willing to bet that a few dozen DS fans, if allowed, could get together and have a huge restoration party there one weekend. Heck, that would certainly save the cost on some of the labor.

Anyway, do make the trip if you can. And no trip to "Collinwood" is complete without a stop at The Black Pearl (aka Blue Whale) at Bannister's Wharf for a cold beer and a bowl of hot clam chowder. I highly recommend it  ;)

I have never been to Seaview Terrace "Collinwood", I hope to go there someday. I have gone to the other two mansions that were used in the filming of the Dark Shadows movies. If I ever get there I will also stop at the Black Pearl "Blue Whale", just up the road from Seaview Terrace, also read that Barrister's Wharf (a restaurant called The Moorings) is highly recommended if you love seafood. Sounds like a fun weekend plan.  Thanks for displaying the great pics Midnite!

I'm finally getting a moment to weigh in on my favorite room at Collinwood. So far (and I don't remember if there are more rooms that we'll see in the future), I, too, like the study.  It's cozy and warm with the wood paneling and has so many interesting things to look at -- e.g. the weapon collection on the wall (something I'd personally like to have if I ever had a study).

The exterior photos are really interesting to see.

I imagine that the window for the study is a bit further to the left than we can see in the photo of the front entry. I've been trying to picture that in these recent episodes that have taken place in the study.

The window to the study seems to be low to the ground, where anyone could look in; but unlike the Old House, no one ever looks into the study.

Thank you, Midnite for all of the additional photos.  But, still, is there a way to place the main doors in context of the whole building?  For example, your first pictue (yesterday) shows a lot of it, including the tower, sort of in the middle.  But, on those long shots there's no way to see the close up parts, and I keep wondering where the doors would be!  That's one reason I suggested that maybe it's on the other side and can't be indicated in that view at all.

Josette,

Unless I'm misunderstanding your question, the front entry doors -- the double doors that appear in Midnite's photos (e.g., the one with the small portico) -- are on the opposite side of the house from the view we are usually shown. The view of Collinwood that we normally see (i.e., with the tower somewhat toward the left) is the back side of the house (which faces the ocean).

In our imaginations, at least, this is the side of the house that the drawing room windows look out upon.

If the servants' quarters are "too the left" when you exit the study (as Nathan Forbes directed Victoria when "escorting" her from the premises), then they might be located toward the right end of the house in these photos.

I think we only saw the actual front of the house, including the double doors, a couple of times early on in the B&W episodes shortly after Victoria Winter's arrival.

The window to the study would be somewhat to the left of these double doors.
