Happy to find DS on IMDb
« on: September 08, 2020, 03:16:27 PM »
No cable, just Wi-Fi. Was scouring my options and found Dark Shadows at the very end of the IMDb TV show choices. It starts with the appearance of Barnabas. Of course I was disappointed that the pre-Barns are not available but so happy to be able to see SOMETHING I can enjoy watching. I'm on ep 216 or 7 as it is catalogued. I am thoroughly enjoying Liz barking at Jason. And Karlen acting his ass off. And Carolyn's fabulous flip. And was pleasantly surprised to hear a favorite non DS tune on the Blue Whale juke box, I'll Be There (instrumental), familiar to me as sung by Cass Elliot & lesser so by Bobby Darin. Also, in this particular episode the first hint of vampirism. Joe speaks of a calf on his uncle's farm coming up missing and later found dead and drained of blood. And the mention of blood freaks Willie out. And Jason finds the puncture wounds on Willie's arm. Great stuff.

Cross Shadows, House, Night and Vampire Curse are also available on IMDb. I'm eager to see Cross Shadows. I'm determined to like it, even if it kills me.

I can't get over how much I still love these beginning episodes. It's still as exciting as seeing them for the first time. Carolyn is introducing herself to Vicki and quite comically. LOVING it!!

It is.  [ghost_smiley]

And speaking of Tubi, for some strange reason that I'm not going to question, I received a Google Alert for Lela Swift's credits on Tubi. Checking out the link I was quite happy to see that DC's Dead of Night: A Darkness at Blaisedon is listed as an offering. Even though it's available on Amazon Prime Video, DailyMotion and it's on DVD, I haven't seen it since it first aired in 1969. I couldn't resist checking out the first few minutes, and between seeing Thayer David and hearing Bob Cobert's score I will definitely watch the whole thing on Tubi once I get the chance later today...

I'll have to check it out! I think I may have seen it or parts of it at a friend's or maybe a fest. Was Louis Edmonds in it? He's who I'm seeing in my mind, with pork chop sideburns.

I was excited that DS was on Pluto TV, even though it seems like they are just running through the same batch of episodes, similar to the way Hulu only had a few hundred episodes at a time.

However, I have been checking out DS on Tubi as well and I'm glad that it's available for free in its entirety somewhere. It was a major loss when they took it off Amazon Prime and I was wondering what would happen. It really speaks to how we live today that I have all the DVDs, but it's such a pain to dig them out! LOL

ABC didn't seem to have a lot of faith in the pilot or they wouldn't have buried in a late August broadcast. It's not a bad pilot. The potential for an ongoing series is certainly there. It's interesting to see soap icon Marj Dusay in her ingenue days, around the time she was stealing Spock's brain on Star Trek.

I am very fond of A Darkness at Blaisedon. A friend gave me a copy of it years ago and I've watched it numerous times.

I can't say exactly just why I like it so much; it just has that DS feel, but with different characters and storyline.

Marge honey, THRILLED for you that you found the 1966 episodes!  I know how much you love them.

Let's say it all together: "Because I CHOOSE TO DO SO."

It's hard to tell because it was common practice back then to air the pilots of passed over projects in August. Obviously for whatever reason(s) ABC didn't greenlight the pilot to series, but we don't really know why they passed.

Yes, seeing her was another thing that caught my immediate interest. I'd enjoyed her quite bit on Santa Barbara, one of my fave soaps.
