If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Sunday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Sunday's quote:
DS 1991 Ep #6 (-1897) - Sara - 'Why MUST you hurt people, Barnabas? Why can you not understand that some want to help you? You MUST NOT hurt them.'

From SHADOWS IN THE '90s: The Dark Shadows Concordance 1991 - PLOT SUMMARIES - EPISODE SIX:
OLD HOUSE:  Julia pounds on the door.  Willie answers,
astonished to see her - it's 3:00 in the morning.  Julia insists she
see Barnabas - right now!  Willie frantically tries to convince
her to leave.  Barnabas arrives, "This is a rather strange time to
be calling."  Julia, "You're not surprised to see me."  He claims
he is.  Julia, "Why are you doing this to me, Barnabas?"  He says
harshly, "You took everything from me, Julia.  You've turned
me into something even more loathesome than I was" - what,
exactly, did Willie tell her?  Julia says, merely that he wasn't
feeling well.  He calls that a "benign description" of what hap-
pened - "I was turning into a 200-year-old man, Julia!  Sadly for
Carolyn, she came calling at the wrong time!"  He attacked
Carolyn because "It was the only way I could reverse what
was happening.  And now she's mine!  And you can thank
yourself for that too!"  She begins to protest.  "SHUT UP!  I WILL
HEAR NO MORE!"  He reveals his fangs and goes for her
throat.  Willie tries to intervene and Barnabas hurls him back-
wards.  The Sara appears - "No, you cannot do this."  Bar-
nabas, suddenly in tears, "Oh, Sara... My sweet little sister...
You've come back to me."  "Why must you hurt people, Bar-
nabas?  Why can you not understand that some want to help
you?  You must not hurt them."  He chokes on tears, "I promise
you...  I promise you I will not do anything to make you run
away from me again."  ...

And the summary references the quote perfectly...

Although, the summary does indeed misspell loathsome as "loathesome."

And as I've done previously when it comes to the '91 Series, I used a screen capture from the TGG Direct DVD release that's the same dimensions as the ones from the original series -

- because even though that release also doesn't have the correct color timing like the VHS release does -

- also like the VHS release, it has the correct aspect ratio, plus it even tends to show a bit more of the frame and it's clearer than the VHS.

And even though the MGM DVD release, like the TGG Direct release, tends to be clearer than the VHS, frustratingly, the aspect ratio is cropped from 4X3 to 16X9 (however, it seems as if for some reason all the copies of that version have been removed from Dailymotion ([hdscrt]), so I couldn't get a screen capture from there - I will have to get my DVD's before I can do that) -

And the reason why there is actually a TGG Direct DVD screen capture from this Ep #6 is that I was able to get my hands on my copy of that set.

And just a reminder, we've seen notations like "DS 1991 Ep #6 (-1897)" before and in this case it means that the quote should have come from the 1897 storyline but that one doesn't have any more eps that haven't been quoted from.

And this is the fourth quote from this ep. The first (Carolyn - 'I can't believe you're sitting around taking this seriously. You MUST all be crazy') was back on February 1st of 2025, the second (Elizabeth - 'MUST we, George?'), also from that same scene, was back on February 2nd of 2026, and the third (Maggie - 'Sara, we need your help. You MUST tell us of the evil that has descended upon this house') was back on June 10th.

(And there will be many more eps coming up without "must" lines... Speaking of which, as I mentioned before, both Eps #1 and #2 of the '91 Series no longer have any "must" lines to quote, and now I'll remind that neither does Ep #5.)

And as I'd mentioned in the above post, I now have my hands an my copy of the TGG Direct DVD set, so in addition to the above post, I was able to go back and add the missing screen captures for the following two quotes:

DS 1991 Ep #6 (-1970) - Maggie - 'Sara, we need your help. You MUST tell us of the evil that has descended upon this house.'

DS 1991 Ep #6 (-1966/67) - Elizabeth - 'MUST we, George?'

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding Monday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Monday's quote:
Ep #1016 (1970PT[-1968]) - Quentin - 'No, she MUST NOT stay in this house! Get her out of this house!'

From "#1016/1017: Robservations 07/11/03: A New Cousin From a Distant Land"
Barnabas leans over the patient--Quentin, Maggie is here, he says. No! cries Quentin, no, she must not stay in this house, get her out, get her out! He squeezes his eyes shut as if in pain.
Quentin, please! objects Barnabas. "Get her out, get her out!" insists Quentin. Maggie walks over to her husband--I've come to stay, she says. Quentin looks at her.  Barnabas is worried--what will happen now?
The Robservations references the quote well though not perfectly...

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Angelexis - 'I MUST see her') was back on September 19th of 2024, and the second (Liz - 'Yes, we MUST have faith. His life has been such a strange one, been too much tragedy. So very much. He can't die now. He can't') was back on November 9th of 2024.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #44 (1966) - Carolyn - 'That MUST mean Joe Haskell. Did he tell you I had lunch in Bangor with Burke Devlin?'

From "#0043/0044: Robservations 06/18/01: Coffee and Conversation"
At the Blue Whale, Bill drinks. Carolyn comes in and starts to walk right past him, then realizes who it is. "Bill?" she asks. Princess!, he says I didn't expect to see you here. This is my favorite hangout, she says, her hair all flipped and banged--but I didn't expect to see you here. I thought you were in Bangor, he says. Have you been checking up on me? she asks. No, it was just mentioned casually, he says, casually in passing. He's obviously uncomfortable. Mmm-hmm, says Carolyn, so who was doing all this reporting on my activities? He's a fine lad, says Bill defensively. That must mean Joe Haskell, she says--did he tell you I had lunch in Bangor with Burke Devlin? She sits at the table with him. No he didn't, insists Bill, annoyed, he didn't say that at all. Did he follow me there to spy on me? asks Carolyn. Never, says Bill, he wouldn't do a thing like that, he merely mentioned... Casually, in passing, teases Carolyn. Yeah, casually in passing, repeats Bill, downing his drink.
The Robservations references the quote perfectly...

And this quote sets another bigger again because it's the eleventh time a sixth quote from the same ep has appeared in the slideshow, joining Eps #66, #377, #384, #449, #550, #646, #709, #727, #915 & #993!! The first (John Harris - 'The notes are signed on the best possible terms and eventually they can be paid off. But I MUST remind you that they are demand notes and can be called at any time'), was back on July 22nd of 2021, the second (Carolyn - 'But how did you know about it? Oh. I suppose Vicki MUST have told you') was back on June 28th of 2022, the third (John Harris - 'But I MUST point out to you that this trust fund that you've set up is going to cause you to have a slight bind, financially') was back on October 31st ([BOO]) of 2022, the fourth (Bill - 'I'll be going up there myself. I MUST see your mother') was back on March 1st of 2023, and the fifth (John Harris - 'I MUST talk to your mother about this') was back on October 11th of 2023.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #175 (1967) - Dr. Guthrie - 'Well, I think that's because something very way out of the ordinary MUST have happened.'

From "#0174/0175: Robservations 09/21/01: The Missing Body; Peter vs. Laura"
I don't understand, says Vicki. Neither does Frank, Lt. Riley or I, says Peter. I mean of course I don't understand how that body could be missing, says Vicki, but I also don't understand why I'm so frightened. I think that's because something way out of the ordinary must have happened, says Peter. But what does it have to do with us? asks Vicki--what does it have to do with us that an unidentified woman died in that fire? A fire in Mrs. Collins' apartment, may I remind you, says Peter--I have no doubt there's a connection between what's happening at Collinwood, what happened in that apartment in Phoenix, and what happened to the body in the morgue. There is one thing that seems to connect everything, she says--fire--fire in the apartment, fire in David's dreams, fire in Sam Evans' paintings, and also the fact that Mrs. Collins ancestors died by fire.
The Robservations references the quote almost perfectly...

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Vicki - 'Well, I'm not sure. But it MUST mean something, or, or Josette wouldn't have made me discover it') was back on April 11th of 2025.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #287 (1967) - Barnabas - 'You MUST forgive Willie. He's a- a very strange man. But I find him to be a loyal and valuable servant.'

From "#0287/0288: Robservations 12/17/01: Julia KNOWS!!!"
She sits to await Barnabas while Willie nervously paces. Why do you work for Mr. Collins if he's so "difficult," as you say? she queries. Before Willie can answer this leading question, Barnabas enters and sends Willie out of the room. Barnabas refuses to cooperate with Julia's research project and won't give her any explanation as to why.
I might know something you don't, she slyly suggests. I doubt it, says Barnabas. I hope we'll meet again very soon, she says. Barnabas gazes after her with menace, not liking this woman at all.
The Robservations doesn't reference the quote at all (nor does the AOL Update). However, after Willie leaves the drawing room, Julia explains that she'd told Willie that she would take full blame for being there - "Visitors, apparently, make him anxious." And after that is when Barnabas delivers the quote...

And this is quite the monumental moment in DS history because it's the first time Julia and Barnabas meet. Little did they and the audience know what was to come. And I absolutely love the screen capture that I was able to get for the quote:

And this is the second quote from this ep. The first (Julia - 'Mr. Collins has done a remarkable job with this house. He MUST'VE made a very thorough study of the period to know so many details') was back on April 28.

If you don't want to know the circumstances surrounding yesterday's entry in this slideshow, then don't read any further...
Yesterday's quote:
Ep #432 (1796) - Trask - 'Mrs. Collins, you MUST go back to the house.'

From "#0431/0432: Robservations 04/08/02: Abigail Meets Her Dead Nephew"
When Trask catches up to Naomi in the woods, telling her the witch summoned him from the house to avoid his questions, she orders him to return to Collinwood; he's staying away from her because he's afraid of Trask. Go home and get others to help search, she demands, annoyed by Trask's blathering and fearful for Daniel.

Unlike the Robservations, the AOL Update for when this ep was run on the Sci-Fi Channel as the first ep on February 6th of 1996 does indeed reference the circumstances of the quote:

Quote from: DrJuliaH
Naomi wanders in the woods, calling Daniel.  Trask, who has followed her, tells her to go home-- the devil is leading Daniel someplace.  He's running from *you*, says Naomi.  She tries to convince him to go back to Collinwood and get the others.
[/spoiler

And this is the third quote from this ep. The first (Abigail(thinking) - 'He's hidden something of the witch's here. I know it. Perhaps, even the book, that book which would convict her. That MUST be it. She gave it to him') was back on April 16th, and the second (Naomi - 'I'm sorry too, but you can change all that. We can all change it and we MUST try to make this a happier place') was back on July 4th.
