He asks if it will work, and she responds that it did before. That isn't what he wanted to hear, tell him it WILL! I said the only thing I could, admits Julia. You don't care, he accuses her. She tells him she just wants it over. But a success, adds Adam desperately. Julia complains his talking is making her nervous. She orders him to go upstairs and wait, but he won't, so she tells him to be quiet. He asks Julia not to scare the new creation with a needle, not to hurt her, but Julia says she'll do whatever is necessary--she did what she had to in order to calm him down! Julia doesn't understand Adam--she can't hurt the creation, but it's OK to hurt Carolyn. Julia smiles bitterly as she informs him giving life force is painful--she watched Barnabas, heard his screams when Adam was brought to life.

No drug will be strong enough, she tells him.

The Robservations doesn't reference the quote at all. However, after Julia says she wants it over and Adam says but a success and Julia agrees, that is when Adam reiterates that it must be a success by delivering the quote...

Barnabas advances on David, a figure of sheer, unadulterated terror. David begs, "Don't hurt me!" as Barnabas grabs him. They hear Julia upstairs, calling for David, and the boy frees himself from Barnabas' grasp and runs upstairs to her. While David says his cousin was going to kill him, Barnabas angrily says he was only planning on giving him a spanking (to death).

David admits to swiping Liz' keys.

The Robservations doesn't reference the quote at all and barely even its circumstances. However, the AOL Update from back when the ep was shown on the Sci-Fi Channel as the second ep on 11/21/95 is a bit better:

   Barnabas greets David and begins stalking him around the coffin as he asks what David's doing there and why he broke his promise to his father.  David is speechless, and Barnabas asks what he's afraid of.  David spits out, "The coffin!"  Barnabas remarks that David asks too many questions, and he must be punished.  David screams for help as Barnabas gets him in a choke-hold.  Suddenly, they hear Julia's voice, and David makes a break for it.  Barnabas tells Julia he found David prowling around, and he was about to spank him.  David has a different version of the story- Barnabas was going to *kill* him!   Barnabas asks how David got in, and David reluctantly shows him the keys he stole from Aunt Elizabeth.  Barnabas says he'll keep the keys for the time being, and he makes David promise not to break in again.

COLLINWOOD:  ... ...                                           Barnabas joins Elizabeth and Roger in the Drawing Room.  He of- fers his condolences, explaining he's been in Boston on business.  He's appalled to learn what happened in his absence.  Elizabeth, "Your presence is always a comfort." He comments on the presence of the deputies.  Roger ex- plains no one knows where Daphne is, but they theorize she'll come for Joe.  Barnabas, "I find all of this ex- traordinary."  He asks Julia if she or Prof. Woodard have a theory.  Julia, "Things of legend, I'm afraid, Mr. Col- lins.  Nothing I'd submit to medical journals for publica- tion."  Barnabas inquires about Victoria.  Roger explains Victoria will be staying with David tonight - the child is terrified.  Julia suddenly privately notices something as- tounding: Barnabas casts no reflection in the mirror.  She watches closely.  Roger suggests Barnabas stay with them as well for his own safety.  Barnabas thanks him, but doesn't think it necessary.  He wonders what course of action the Sheriff will take "if your young niece does return here".  Roger, "She'll have to be... stopped."  Julia, pointedly, "But that still leaves one very important question unanswered.  Who is the one that did this to her?"  Barnabas, "Yes... That is the question.  Needless to say, if there's anything I can do..."  He again offers his sympathetic thoughts to Elizabeth and kisses her hand. He and Julia trades stares, then he takes his leave.

The summary doesn't entirely reference the quote directly - and it's off on a bit of the phasing even though it presents it as a quote and not a paraphrasing, but it does reference the quote's circumstances...

And speaking of lines presented as quotes, some others in the summary also differ from what's actually said in the ep. And it's actually Elizabeth who says Victoria is with David - though it is Roger who says David is very frightened and that's why Victoria is staying with him.

And as I've done previously when it comes to the '91 Series, I used a screen capture from the TGG Direct DVD release that's the same dimensions as the ones from the original series -

- because even though that release also doesn't have the correct color timing like the VHS release does -

- also like the VHS release, it has the correct aspect ratio, plus it even tends to show a bit more of the frame and it's clearer than the VHS.

And even though the MGM DVD release, like the TGG Direct release, tends to be clearer than the VHS, frustratingly, the aspect ratio is cropped from 4X3 to 16X9 -

And just a reminder, we've seen a notation similar to "DS 1991 Ep #2 (-1966: Ep #60)" before and in this case it means that the quote should have come from a Vicki's Arrival-Burke's Revenge-Matthew Morgan-Introducing Josette's Ep #60 but that ep doesn't have any "must" lines to quote from. So, with that in mind, it means Ep #60 now joins Eps #1, #5, #8, #12, #13, #22, #24, #39, #47, #49, #72, #86, #87, #120, #124, #136, #138, #139, #141, #145, #189, #198, #210, #217, #219, #223, #242, #272, #478, #659, #667, #690, #840, #848, #904, #960, #1008 and #1087 as ones without any "must" lines.

The Robservations doesn't reference the quote at all and barely even its circumstances. However, the quotes comes up after Maggie has remembered about the cemetery, a memory the frightens her, and Julia says she should be encouraged because it means the possibility of the return of her memory...

Nicholas promises it will be their little secret, and ushers Joe out into the dawn, a huge, satisfied grin on his face.

She joins him, walking slowly--you knew I'd gone out? she says. Please don't think I was spying on you, he says--I thought of something else that you ought to know--he prepares another drink--I went up and knocked on your door, and to my surprise, no Vicki! I couldn't sleep, she says, I went for a walk. You must be exhausted if you've been walking all this time, he chuckles grimly. I wasn't walking all the time, she says, I went to Maggie Evans' house. (uh oh) Did you? he asks--and how is Maggie Evans? She's fine, says Vicki--you remember, she called me earlier this evening. Nathan is bothered by Suki's last words "Barnabas" doesn't Joshua find this disturbing, too?  I'm certain there's a simple explanation, says Joshua.  Suki never met Barnabas, Nathan points out, and about nine PM the other night, I saw a man in the woods I'm certain was Barnabas.  No, dismisses Joshua, Barnabas is in England-and anyway, 9 PM is way too late to be calling on Millicent!  (way to deflect, Josh.)  I was returning a brooch Millicent dropped, says Nathan.  And just WHERE did Millicent lose this brooch? Demands Joshua.  The Inn, where we were having dinner, replies the Lieutenant, trying to steer the discussion back to Barnabas.

Were there any ill feelings between you and your sister? Asks Joshua.  No, says Nathan.  Then show some grief for her, advises Joshua.  I'm still in shock! Protests Nathan.  Your duty is to grieve, suggests Joshua-let me worry about your sister's last words.

Nicholas walks through the woods, calling for Adam, who appears beside him. Nicholas orders him to go to Barnabas, tell him he's holding Vicki, and he must go ahead with the experiment or Vicki will die. He gives him the engagement ring as proof they are holding her--once Barnabas sees it, he will surely go ahead with the experiment.

And this is the fifth quote from this ep. The first (Vicki - 'Why am I here? You MUST tell me') was back on April 6th of 2022, the second (Vicki - 'This MUST be a dream') was back on February 21st of 2023, the third (Nicholas - 'And you MUST accomplish something during the visit. Peter then beckoned to Vicki to come back, says Julia. Exactly, says Stokes--who in the past wants you back there? Stokes asks Barnabas--who else besides Vicki, who can't appeal to you personally? Peter Bradford, suggests Barn. He wouldn't want you there, says Julia. If he was convinced I was coming back to help her. . .points out Barnabas.

He would think you were going there to bring her back here, says Julia. That's an unnecessary remark, says Barnabas. Julia urges him to be honest, utterly, about this mad dream.
