According to Wikipedia, Bobby Sherman did record Seattle (though he changed some of the lyrics) and while it did get some radio airplay, it was never released as a single.

Maybe I'm just too used to the way it was sung on the show, but I'm not a fan of Sherman's version.  And btw, I NEVER forgot that David Soul was in the cast.

It's fascinating to hear that.

I vaguely recall these and we might have even cut one out of the back of the cereal box. Was it a Cowsill's record? I know it wasn't Bobby. It's such a vague memory that it might not be something I am recalling for real. I'd forgotten all about these.

I think it might have been this one--the Archies singing "Jingle, Jangle." The Archies were interesting historically because lead singer Andy Kim (who of course wasn't credit at the time) was Korean-American. I think it was an early instance of an Asian-American singer on the charts (but not the first).

The song title "Jingle Jangle" makes me think of Josette's music box... that's my excuse for posting it here!

If you search cereal box record on you tube you can find others of these by the Archies, the Monkees, the Jackson 5 and something called "Spooky Stories" from '78.
