15 years ago today, we've mourned the loss of fellow Dark Shadows star Joan Bennett from a heart attack at age 80. Let's remember Joan Bennett. May god rest your soul.

Joan's contributions to DS frequently get overlooked in favor of some of the series' more popular characters or showy performers. But I can't even begin to imagine the original series without her presence or the often understated grace of her performances. She was truly a class act.  :)

I love Joan Bennett.  She was one of life's originals.  Her brilliance and beauty are a constant gift.

Rest in peace, dear heart.

so true.

joan does get upstaged by some of her co-stars but i can't imagine the show without her.
i've been pleased recently that she gets to show her chops a bit as judith collins during the 1897 storyline.

elizabeth collins stoddard is one of my absolute favorites.

Mine too. She drifted off to the sidelines as the show went on, but Elizabeth remained one of my favorite characters. I also liked Naomi and Judith.

Ms. Bennett must have considered the character of "Judith" a gift.  What a delight it must have been to act out that character's delight in thwarting the hopes of her brothers.  And what great fun for us to watch her do it.....[lghy]

Joan was a class act.  DS wouldn't have been the same without her.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures JosettesMusic Box. Joan was wonderful. I truly enjoyed watching her as Judith, she was right in the center of things there for awhile.

Joan Bennett was impressive.  My favorite character was that of Judith but I also loved the scenes as Elizabeth with Jason, Roger and Carolyn when the show was just getting into Barnabas.  She had some choice scenes with Laura in the beginning.  Flora was good and I wish that it had been expanded a bit.

Joan B. had such grace and dignity on the show.  No matter how kooky the stories got sometimes, her character(s) brought a lot of stability and humanity to everything.  I especially like "Ice Liz" the Leviathan and Judith.  Flora Collins was another interesting character, too, and who could forget Naomi?
