What is a keylogger?

(I was inferring someone who somehow garners information from me clicking on a site...)

A keylogger is a little program that captures your keystrokes, particularly username and password information; when used as malware, it usually works in concert with a trojan to send the info back to parties who ought not possess it.

Great to 'see' you & thanks.

So, when I log on here, would 'some bad person'? be able to steal my info? Then what? Utilize it on say Amazon? Also, here and a few other places, unless I clean my cookies, it 'remembers' Patti & my password....so...no keystrokes, right?
