10 TV Characters Who Ended Up With the Wrong Person
It's a hot topic in the TV landscape because as fans we ultimately want the characters to end up with someone who makes sense for them.

10 Elena Gilbert - The Vampire Diaries (2009-2017)

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought she would have been better with Stefan...

The 20 Best Teen TV Dramas of All Time: 13 The Vampire Diaries (The CW, 2009–2017)

I would quibble, and I know others would as well, that TVD isn't just a "tenn drama"...

I would also rank it higher. There are a few shows on the list that I've watched that I would rank differently. But then, these lists are always subjective...

The Vampire Diaries: 10 Best Side Characters, According To Reddit
Main characters Elena, Damon, and Stefan are beloved parts of The Vampire Diaries, but Redditors are sharing their favorite minor character

I really enjoyed Jenna and Lexi. But I especially like Anna - and even though I was sorry to see her go, I loved how they wrapped up her storyline...

30 Sexiest Shows Of All Time: 15 The Vampire Diaries Netflix 2009–2017

"There can be something so appealing about the chance to live forever (if you ignore the drinking blood of it, as well as everything else that comes along with being a vampire). Add in an attractive cast (as tends to be the case with The CW shows), characters pairing off left and right, and it’s pretty much a perfect recipe for a tantalizing show — and franchise. Romance takes center stage more in the original series than in either of the spinoffs. And it’s not just with the central love triangle of Elena (Nina Dobrev), Stefan (Paul Wesley), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Even though it tends to end in heartbreak for Caroline (Candice King) and Bonnie (Kat Graham), their journeys do include quite the sparks along the way. —Meredith Jacobs"

12 TV Characters Who Became Way Bigger Than They Were Supposed To
Sometimes a one-off character, like Klaus from The Vampire Diaries, surprises everyone with their potential and gets a bigger role on the show.

10  Klaus Mikaelson
The Vampire Diaries
Klaus Mikaelson was supposed to be the main villain of The Vampire Diaries season 3 who would get heroically defeated by the gang in the finale, "The Departed." According to TVLine, creator Julie Plec could not stick with the original plan because Joseph Morgan's Klaus was too charismatic to let go so quickly, and audiences adored him to no extent. That was how the villain of season 3 became a major character in The Vampire Diaries universe, even spawning his own spinoff, The Originals, a year later, which, in turn, gave way to the show about Klaus' daughter, Legacies.

8 TV Villains Who Saved Their Shows

"While the protagonist and heroic characters generally get the lion's share of screen time on TV series, there have been plenty of TV villains who saved their shows. Whether they helped improve an already failing story or simply made such an impact that it's hard to imagine the show without them, it's always great to see an antagonist become so popular in their respective shows."

I would say these two definitely fall into the latter category, so check out:

7 Spike

1 Klaus Mikaelson
