That's sort of like how I got hooked on Dark Shadows.
My Dad used to enjoy the show, so when the 1991 series came out we watched it together as a family.

When I went to college I got hooked on the Sci-Fi re-runs.
My first original Dark Shadows story line was the about the Leviathans.
I haven't seen all of Darkshadows, but of the storylines I've seen I think I enjoyed the one parallel time where Quinton had been was married to Angelique.

I also read some fan fic, story summaries, and explored the few fan sites that were around at the time.

It's been a while since I've seen Dark Shadows, but I still enjoy it.
I'd love to see the movies sometime.

Welcome to the board. Have fun!

You are going to LOVE the series! I've only seen the first 6 episodes of the 1991 revival. It was only recently that I saw them on vhs because I avoided the show in 1991. When I heard Barnabas was being played by someone other than JF, I couldn't bring myself to watch it. [my lose] When I did see it, I enjoyed the darkness of those episodes but I have to admit I do not like their version of Willie. He's too goofy for my taste. A darker Barnabas is tolerable but not a goofy Willie. I couldn't take him seriously. I've been rewatching the earlier episodes of the original series where Willie tried to keep Barnabas from killing people and he came up with wonderful reasons. He was Barnabas' conscience. On the 1991, I couldn't see him giving Barnabas advise and the vampire taking it.
