OT - MY PLANT BLOOMED!!
« on: August 24, 2004, 04:46:03 PM »
Hello all! I'm just posting a photo of my Christ-in-a-Manger plant which, after 22 years, FINALLY BLOOMED! The blooms only last one night and if you look into the center of the flower, it really looks like Christ in the manger. I hope you all enjoy this! ;D

Cassandra:  I have a potion.  You know it well.  As soon as she drinks it, within an hour, she will go to sleep and have the dream.
Nicholas:  I am much to talented to spend my time drugging drinks.

What a gorgeous flower! Since it's so rare, what effect do you think it would have on Lycanthropy?   ;D

Wow!  That's beautiful.  Never heard of this plant.  It only blooms for one night??   ???
And then what - do you have to wait for another 22 years?
Did you take a lot of pictures?

Wow Terry! This is really beautiful!!  I've never heard of this plant either but after waiting 22 years for it to bloom I could imagine how happy you are with it!  And to think it only lasts one night.  It's a good thing you weren't away when it bloomed.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Terry....mazletov!!

Have you had this plant for all 22 years?

I agree with Cassandra...thank God you weren't out the one time it bloomed!!

I googled Christ in the Manger plant; not too much, but, there seemed to be alot of references to pointsettas...

Enjoy!!! and thanks

How amazing!!  It's beautiful.  How fortunate that you were there at the right time!  I assume it was showing signs of blooming so that you knew to watch!  :)

And, it certainly does remind me of the plant that was supposed to cure Chris!!!!

I had to watch it for about a week because there were five closed blooms on it.  My grandmother had given me a start and said that with care and love it will bloom.  I finally called her and told her that yes, it had finally bloomed.  When it dosen't have blooms on it, it looks like a ratty ole house plant.  Its older than my daughter, who took three disks of pictures of it.

Well, a plant who's real name is "Night Blooming Cerus" certainly couldn't make for a worse  "cure" for a werewolf than that idiotic "Moon Poppy"!!

But since it's a tropicl plant, someone (Mrs. Johnson, maybe?) would have to have been growing it in that green house over by the Caretaker's Cottage.  Or was it out behind the Old House?  ;)

Congrats Terry 308... Talk about patience!  Hey, that would mean your flower got planted in about 1982, I planted a couple of plants in 1982, but i only had to wait till the end of summer for mine to be finished..    :o   ;D
its a sudden death that i know, my father wrote me to say that, my cousin, uncle jeremiah was, was very disturbed.

What a beautiful flower!  And such a gorgeous picture!  Seriously, I think it's good enough to enter in a photography contest.  The contrast between the bright light at the center and the shadowy edges is quite striking.

John
