Geez, I had never even heard of the SCA.   :-

Umm. I have mainly because it's fashionable within the academy to slam the SCA. To give you a sense of the basis of most of the comments, the SCA is generally looked upon by academics as more of a fan group rather than a scholarly group.

But then you know I'm endlessly fascinated with what a b.s. distinction that really is.  ;)

Really? Gee, I must travel in the wrong academic circles...

Then again, I suppose there weren't many computer programmers in 17th century Europe, now were there?  ;)

Hey! Maybe to boost my geek factor, I should start my own group devoted to exploring what it might have been like had computers existed in 17th century Europe. Yeah! That might do it!  ;D

Well, if you believe that the highest function of computers and the Internet are the gathering and storing of information, then yes, they DID have "computers".....they called them monasteries.  ;)

I can honestly say that, other than an occasional game of computer solitaire to pass the time while my computer is working on something else for me, I've never played a computer/video game in my life. And I couldn't tell the difference between an X-Box and Nintendo if they offered to pay me a million dollars.

Amateur.

But imagine my surprise that on a scale of 1 to 8 that ranges from Geekish Tendencies to Dysfuntional Geek, I only rank a 2 - a plain, every day Geek (with a resultant geekiness of only 16.17357%)! And that's even factoring in that I use Linux over Windows!!

I guess this means I let too much real life get in the way of embracing geekiness. I'll have to do something about that!  ;D

But enough about me. Why not see where you rank on the geek-o-meter?  ;)  (And don't kid yourself - the mere fact that you're on your computer reading this forum definitely means that you'll place on the survey somewhere.  :D)

Oh my - I got  26.62722% (!??)  Total geek. Hmmmm...must be all the fanfiction I read...and occasionally write (cough). That, and the Art and computer classes...chuckle. Although I never thought of reading/writing fanfiction as being geeky necessarily (?)--or maybe I'm just happy in my eccentric illusions (LOL). Oh, and I got a kick out of the one phrase:  "I want...to call Microsoft Microshaft." LMAO  ;)   Long day--gave me a laugh. Neat topic.   :)

Isn't it an awful feeling?  ;)

Methinks you miss the belief of the test:

Lack of computer/video game knowledge --> LESS geeky
Experienced computer/video game player --> MORE geeky

;D

and I got a kick out of the one phrase:  "I want...to call Microsoft Microshaft." LMAO

Needless to say, I checked that - and the one that said Gates is Satan.  ;)  (I wonder if you get points or have poiints taken away for those?  :D)

And I couldn't tell the difference between an X-Box and Nintendo if they offered to pay me a million dollars. Perhaps that's a major reason why I scored so low...

Let's get with the geek program!    Many of the new video/computer games come cross-platform so it should work with your computer. The older games won't unfortunately.

Methinks you miss the belief of the test:

Lack of computer/video game knowledge --> LESS geeky
Experienced computer/video game player --> MORE geeky

;D

If you have ever stayed up all night gaming, you would know that it is a true geek test.  If no gaming was involved, what would be the point of even being geeky?  It would be totally devoid of fun.  One must allow for some fun!!!!!

Hmm...I had glanced at the link from MB last week.
It didn't really pertain to me, so I came back here.

Ever since though, frequently at start-up, my Sygate firewall tells me whatever is trying to connect to something-geek.... ???

and this didn't occur before viewing the site.
