New Year's Eve: 2003
« on: December 31, 2003, 11:24:23 PM »
Dear Fellow Dark Shadows Fans,

December 31, 2003 is a landmark date in that it signifies, for many of us, the fifth year in which we have been posting messages on the Dark Shadows Forums.

During that time, I have always been impressed by the unfailing cordiality that the members of the Dark Shadows Forums have accorded to one another.  Of course, the level of discourse has been one of great civility and respect for the other person's point of view.

It is truly remarkable that what began as a lifelong affection for a television program we watched as young kids over thirty years ago, has evolved into long-standing friendships for many of us via the internet.  The debt of gratitude we all owe to Midnite and the Mysterious Benefactor for providing us with this exceptional forum is, indeed, incalculable.

So, as the Irish are wont to express it, I would like to wish "Athbhliain Faoi Mhaise Dhut!" ("A Prosperous New Year!") to: Birdie, Blue Whale Barfly, Cassandra, Castlebee, Ringo Collins, Gerard, Annie Holic, Jennifer, Julia99, Dr. Eric Lang, Luciaphil, Minja, Patti, Mark Rainey, Raineypark, Craig Slocum, Prof. Stokes, Robin V, and of course, VAM.

And, as my own late grandfather used to say at this time of year: "Slainte Chugat!" ("Good Health To You All!").

Sincerely,

Bob the Bartender

You're all going to make us blush.  [blshg]  ;)  :-*

But the truth is that we love what we do (well, at least most of the time  [lghy]). It's a labor of love for a show that we love. And a nice side benefit is the comraderie that getting together on the forum seems to inspire...

Bob -- Late replying, as I've only been getting through the topics on a scattered (scatterbrained?) basis the last few days. Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines....

Thanks much for your remarks. Truer words were never spoken (even if I don't understand the Gaelic). :)

And of course, thanks to Midnite, MB, and Dom for being agreeably frightening but less horrible than most.

Harpy new year and all that!

--Mark

I wish lotsa love and best wishes to my favorite mods and posters.  I noticed Bob the B mentioned Ringo Collins.  I sure do miss him so HAPPY NEW YEAR to Ringo(wherever you are).

PS  Is anyone in contact with Jase?  I got a big kick out of his posts.  Happy New Year, Jase.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Although I am not as frequent a poster as many others here, I have always found the DS forum to be lively, civil and intelligent.  And this is from someone who visits only about 3 or 4 forums on any regular basis.  It's gotta be good!

Thanks Midnite, MB for doing such a great job.  And a special New Years greeting to my fellow librarians - that means you too, Vlad!

God bless,
