A 1960s descendant of one of the old Salem families used to tell her students, "the real Witches were never accused in Salem--because they were sleeping with the judges."  That lore was published in a small press book a few years ago.  The inspiration for this series seems more to do with the current fad for supernatural shows but it does sound as if they are trying to use some of the actual historical events at least in part--that alone would make it more interesting than most.

'Salem': Witches are everywhere in first look at WGN America's series

Watch a spooky trailer for 'Salem,' WGN America's witchy new show

Definitely looks like it has potential!  [snow_wink]  Though the premiere is still nearly three months off.  [snow_sad]

Looks like it could be very interesting.  But... "'Salem' is focusing on the literal 17th century lifestyle"...  Yeah, right.  Maybe a 17th century lifestyle with a 21st century cosmetological veneer (at least for the women).

The idea of a Witch being behind a Witch trial is certainly reminiscent of where DS went with the original 1795 storyline and the respective roles of Trask and Angelique in it...

I'm laughing, though, at the idea of Cotton Mather as this bearded hunk.  lol.  And what the hell is that person acting like a human dog wearing some kind of archaic muzzle supposed to be about??  Reminds me of the antics at Vincent Price (Prince Prospero)'s court in the 1963 Roger Corman film, MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH.

'Salem': How Seth Gabel would survive in 1690s Salem (Hoverboards are involved)

And apparently I missed 4 other surveys between Xander Berkeley's and this one - but links to them are at the end of Seth Gabel's survey.  [snow_smiley]

And I can't believe no one is getting all the answers right in the "Which witch is which?" question!! Or maybe it's just that I've watched too many movies/TV shows with witches in them!!  [snow_cheesy]
