As a fellow 36-year-old, I feel I can say that 36 is not middle aged.  Actually, I don't think there is a "middle age" anymore.

Denial is such a convenient thing, isn't it?  [lghy]

(Whatever you do, don't check out www.middleage.com because they say middle-age could actually begin as early as 25. And definitely don't check out US life expectancy statistics because the average current life expectancy is 75 years [hence why middle-age could begin at 25].  ;D)

MB (who at 47 isn't in denial that he's possibly only three years away from becoming a senior citizen and eligibility to join the AARP.  [wink2])

Julia99 honey-baby, do you believe everything you read or heard in Civic class?  Come on, your only as young as you feel.

Happy Birthday!!!
Cassandra:  I have a potion.  You know it well.  As soon as she drinks it, within an hour, she will go to sleep and have the dream.
Nicholas:  I am much to talented to spend my time drugging drinks.

Happy birthday, Julia99!  The way to determine if you're middle-aged is to convert it to dog years.  Then use whatever figure makes you the most comfortable.

Happy Birthday Julia99, you young thing!  I am ten years older than you and I am still in denial that I could ever be this age!

Enjoy!

Julia99,

When I turned 36, I decided that middle-age would always begin two years after my actual age.  So here I am, ten years later, still trying to get away with this approach!

Happy birthday,

Ben

Like MB, I'm sitting here at this 47th year wondering the same thing you are J99.  I've decided I haven't gotten there yet.  ;)  Yes, denial is a wonderful thing.  I like this delusional little world.    Hope it was a grand day.

MB (who at 47 isn't in denial that he's possibly only three years away from becoming a senior citizen and eligibility to join the AARP.  [wink2])

I'm also 47 (well, in a few months, anyway) and like some of the rest of y'all, I feel like a younger mind (in my case, 30ish) in a 45+ year old body.  I can't bring myself to say "I'm getting old" and I'll probably have my first middle-age crisis when I hit 50 and get that AARP in the mail.  LOL.

I thought 25 was great, then I hit ("never trust anyone under") 30 and survived it.  Then 35, which was a non-event, and then 40 (I was in the best health and shape in my life at 40!) and last year 45.  Oh well. . .thank goodness for DARK SHADOWS (and my other interests, like Rodgers and Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim) that helps me to remain young!
