Doctor Mabuse auteur Ansel Faraj has announced a short film based upon Poe's House of Usher, starring Chris Pennock.
Pennock has already shot Faraj's Doctor Mabuse: Etiopomar, due for an April 2014 release.

It would be nice to see the first film!  Of course it came no where near South Texas, and I can't find hide nor hair of it on DVD.

Doctor Mabuse auteur Ansel Faraj has announced a short film based upon Poe's House of Usher, starring Chris Pennock.

Do you have any more info about this? Is it an actual tele-play, or just some aspects of Usher?

Thanks,

Patti

It's going to be a short film based on Poe's story, as announced on Faraj's Facebook page. That's all the info I have.

I'll be honest; I don't believe I've ever seen Chris Pennock in anything besides DS.

I love various takes on "House of Usher" and "Fall of House of Usher", so at very least, I'd buy it (used).

Below I copied/pasted A. F. latest FB mention:

Filming went so well today on THE MADNESS OF RODERICK USHER (2014), that Christopher Pennock and I will be reuniting in January to film another Edgar Allan Poe short - this time, based on a story that, to my knowledge has never been adapted for film before. One day of filming to go!

Whoop Whoop!!

I asked him via phasebook about it being for sale on Amazon:

Hi Patti, it will not be for sale on Amazon. You will be able to order it via the Dark Shadows Festival - we were supposed to have it on sale a few days ago, but there was an unexpected issue on their end that we are currently waiting on... I really hope we can have it on sale by tomorrow, if not early next week. Sorry about the delay. Please keep checking the Doctor Mabuse (2013) page for updates.

AHA!!

So, could someone help me out w/buying it via DS Fest?? (Not exactly sure what this means....)

I'm assuming it means that you'll buy it as a mail order item like the calendars and other merchandise sold by the DS Festivals.

He is certainly putting out a lot of movies - I see him mentioned in the subject of about three threads here. I guess I'll try to watch what's available online before purchasing anything. I've heard that "Dr Mabuse" had mixed reviews, to put a positive spin on things -- but I haven't seen it myself.

Regarding the question about how to order the DVD, here's the info sent out by the DS Fest organizers.

---- EXCLUSIVE NEW “DOCTOR MABUSE” FILM DVD WITH ORIGINAL DS ACTORS

The psychological thriller DOCTOR MABUSE, seen in limited theatrical release earlier this year, is now available on DVD, exclusively via mail-order from the Dark Shadows Festival.

The 95-minute drama stars JERRY LACY as the nefarious and maniacal title character. LARA PARKER and KATHRYN LEIGH SCOTT co-star as mysterious sisters in the supernatural.

The film had its world premiere in April, 2013, as part of the DS Festival’s “Dark Shadows Island Weekend” in Coronado, CA. The 3 DS actors, director/writer Ansel Faraj, and other cast members participated in an audience Q&A and autograph session after the screening.

In addition to the full-length film, the DVD includes a 24-minute featurette about the “Making of Doctor Mabuse,” with behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and deleted scenes.

Exclusively available now via mail-order, DOCTOR MABUSE on DVD is $19.95 + $3.00 shipping & handling).

Please send total payment of $22.95 by check or money order, made payable to:

Dark Shadows Festival
P.O. Box 92
Maplewood, NJ 07040

Please note that the Festival can not accept PayPal or credit card payments.
