Even Considering All Of Barnabas' Womanizing -
« on: June 20, 2011, 07:43:30 PM »
 - this tweet seems like an odd assumption to jump to:

nerdodyssey
If a person didn't already know what #DarkShadows was about, I find it possible to assume #BarnabasCollins was a pimp & not a vampire.

Hi MB, could the individual be referring to the Depp Barnabas wardrobe?  This Barnabas may find himself embracing some of the, uh, "Superfly" trends of the early 1970s... you do recall that era, don't you darling?  *wink*

It would certainly be interesting if he was talking about Depp's Barn and not the previous incarnations of the character - especially if he's somehow seen what sort of duds Depp is actually wearing. I hadn't thought of that possibility. Though I can't imagine the film dressing Barn as a pimp - well, unless he goes on the prowl incognito...

sometimes i feel like this film is an exercise in one step forward, one step back...

the script sounds fabulous...eva green calls it "funny". the collinwood set looks amazing...barnabas is dressed like a "pimp"

i suppose none of us will really know until it's released but the rumors can be SO maddening.

Oh, I can imagine BarnaDepp in Superfly duds and see-through platform wedgies getting down at the new Blue Whale disco with some fly chix.

We are talking Tim Burton, dears.  All bets are off.  And we are talking about an actor whose concept of an 18th century buccaneer was based on the drunken swaggering of Keith Richards in the final throes of a bender.

Although I am more impressed to date than I expected to be... with what I have seen...

Please, do not speak of such things.  Ben Cross's turtlenecks were even too far!   [ghost_wacko]

The guy has tweeted more about DS and it would certainly seem like he's talking about the original show. So again, it's awfully odd to jump to the assumption than Frid's Barn is a pimp. But then different people are going to bring their own unique takes to the show...

I forgot to say that considering how hideous most of the men's '70s clothes were on the Ballyhoo Vintage Clothing Web site, I'm really hoping Colleen Atwood is designing all of Depp's wardrobe and that it will be much more in keeping with the usual style of dress we associate with Barnabas.

Since Barnabas was a very fashionable man in his youth, it's a stretch in my opinion to imagine seeing him running around in 'pimp wear'.  Liz would at least set him straight if he was confused IMO.

Actually, it's become apparent that nerdodyssey has taken to Twitter to try to get a rise out of DS fans (apparently Twitter has its share of trolls as well - though why doesn't that surprise me?). And now he's got a cohort who posted today that "If Dr. Julia Hoffman were any more of a quack she'd be Scrooge McDuck."

But the two may not be getting what they want because so far DS fans seem to be completely ignoring the pair and not responding to them at all. Very wise...
