Wow! I just listed to 'The Truth Beneath The Rose'.  I really like it. I'm reminded of Quentin.

The song "Confessions of the Vampire" from the musical Tanz der Vampir...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOnS9uKESBk

Reminds me of Barnabas somewhat, especially the regret in lines like "The split goes through my very soul/Its a wound that never mends/Our desires are elusive/And the hunger never ends..."

Ditto!  That is PERFECT for him -- especially for those who see the darker more complicated character, as opposed to those who see only  a womanizing drunk with no depth.

And some I don't think were used yet (unless I'm so slap happy I managed to miss something):

Meatloaf's  Paradise by the Dashboard  Light -- Quentin and Jenny

I Dreamed a Dream (Fantine in Les Mis)  -- Jenny

I'm Just a <guy> Who Cain't Say No (Oklahoma) -- Quentin

The Man that Got Away (A Star is Born) -- Julia

Empty Chairs and Empty Tables (Les Mis) -- Quentin

This Nearly was Mine (South Pacific) -- Barnabas

Two out of three Ain't Bad (Meatloaf)  -- Julia

Several songs from the Killers' album Hot Fuss, are reminiscent of the relationship between Barnabas and Josette:

"Jenny Was a Friend of Mine" and "Midnight Show"
Maggie's kidnapping and Josette's death on Widow's Hill
"Mr. Brightside"
Barnabas reflecting on Jeremiah and Josette placed under the love curse
"Everything Will Be Alright"
Barnabas accepting that Josette is gone after she appears to him in the Leviathan arc
A growing collection of humorous DS videos. Last updated 11-3-08

Did a large procession wave their torches as my head fell in the basket,
And was everybody dancing on the casket?

Someone already brought up My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion and that's a good one, but I think it better applies to Barnabas in regards to Josette. Think about it, it did take a long time, but he was able to manage to get past his obsession with Josette....first with Roxanne in 1970 PT, then with Angelique in 1840 (gag!).

Obsession....I ALWAYS think of Angelique when I hear this song...always. And it also suits Barnabas' feelings toward recreating his beloved Josette.

Here Comes The Rain...by Eurythmics!
If you like DS and want to have a fun  on a Facebook page that is open to all forms of DS and doesn't allow childish behavior like some groups; come on over to DIAESD! You do have to ask to be invited and I will approve you.

Another vote for Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde.

Some Velvet Morning by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood. Eerie, very bizarre.

And a forgotten song by Jim Stafford: The Swamp Witch. More of a poem set to music than an actual song.  Very different than his usual output of novelty tunes.

"Bargain With The Devil" by Franco Micalizzi
It is the main theme of CHI SEI? aka BEYOND THE DOOR.
This European movie is a cross of The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby
The song is about a man who sells his soul to the devil to be with a woman.

I would love it if someone could make a Dark Shadows music video of it.

Nancy Sinatra's cover of the Beatles' "Run For Your Life" has always struck me as the perfect Angelique song:

Well, I'd rather see you dead, little boy
Than to see you with another girl
You'd better keep your head, little boy
Or you won't last in my world

You'd better run for your life if you can, little boy
Hide your head in the sand, little boy
I catch with another girl
That's the end, little boy

You know that I'm a wicked chick
And I was born with a jealous mind
And I can't spend my whole life trying
Just to make you toe that line

Let this be a sermon
I mean everything I said
And, baby, I'm determined
'Cause I'd rather see you dead

Too bad there was no MTV back then. A video of Nancy as Angelique would have been a blast!
