Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!
 [8_1_209] [BOO] [128]

Came to work today dressed in the Barnabas costume I wore to the August Fest. Got several "Oh, yeah!" reactions when asked who I was, 1 wasn't that a soap opera? and 1 had no idea (who was def. old enough to remember but I don't like the guy so I'll hold it against him). For the record I'm currently working Document Control at the construction of a power plant in NY, so the ratio is like 98% 35 - 50+ year old men.

Anyone else dress up for the day?

Happy Halloween to everyone!  Nope, no dressing up on my part.

I'm sitting here waiting for the first of the trick-or-treaters.  I suppose people will start later than usual because the end of daylight savings was pushed back a week - which seems sort of hard on the tiny ones.  I love it when the parents are encouraging them to say "Trick or Treat!" and then "Thank you!" and they're just sort of clueless about it all.

Happy Halloween!  We had trick-or-treat on late Sunday afternoon.  It was a gorgeous day.  I had purchased four bags of candy.  Not one trick-or-treater rang the doorbell.  Not one.  Not a single one.  None in the neighborhood got a trick-or-treater.  I've placed the candy in the basement freezer to keep temptation away and to preserve it for Christmas.

Now where's the fun in that?!  [hall2_undecided]

I haven't dressed up in a few years. But perhaps my crowning achievement at work was the year I dressed as a nun for last period back when I was teaching high school in the mid-80s.  [hall2_grin]  And as I recall not very much teaching actually got done that day even though I tried to keep a straight face for as long as possible and act as if what I was wearing wasn't at all out of the ordinary.

I'm a banker, where costumes aren't a good idea, but I did wear all black and sprayed my hair black. No trick or treaters, either, but I did get a phone call from someone saying "Boo!"

Happy Halloween, everyone!

I got tricked, not treated this year. A raw sore throat.
My husband did the passing out of candy. We had quite a few
kids, but not as many as in years past. It being a school night
didn't help.

I was bummed there weren't more trick or treaters. Wife and I made jack o'lanterns...

I had a great Halloween that was partially Dark Shadows related. I saw the matinee performance of Jersey Boys here in Chicago. The show was awesome. i sat front row center.  [BOO]

Afterwards I visited with fellow boardster Ben, who works in the city. We hadn't got together in a couple years, so it was nice to catch up and hear how his book; Inventing Late Night is doing. After that, I visited another Dark Shadows friend who used to post on the old Vantage Net and Sci fi boards, and is a friend to many here - Thom Jenkins. He and his partner are now retired and have settled here in Chicago. It has been 5 years since Thom last attended a Festival, but I think I have him convinced that Burbank is a MUST next year.  He wanted me to pass a hearty  "Hi" on to both MsCriseyde and Midnite.  [8_1_209]

So, it's "All Hallows Day" today, or something?

There aren't any. Nothing but memories in the students' (and a few other teachers') minds.  [hall2_grin]

So, it's "All Hallows Day" today, or something?

We're going through Halloween withdrawal today.  [hall2_sad]  But things will slowly start to disappear. And hopefully a whole new default theme will debut before the end of the day...

We're having FTP issues, so it's looking like the new default theme won't debut until Friday (IF I can make time) or more probably sometime Saturday. But I can definitely stand to see the Halloween theme stick around a little longer.  [hall2_wink]
