You think now with cable news, the internet, how would have that changed the show? For example, could have Barnabas survived a internet search? If so how?

It wouldn't be that difficult to construct a false history online. After all, everything on the web is true.  Making Willie into an amateur hacker of sorts could easily solve that problem, and it would fit into his "research" on the Collins family jewels if he had some Googling skills.
