Don't forget DS' 4th incarnation, the 1980s off-Broadway stage show!

I completely forgot!  An actor friend of mine (and DS enthusiast) from a small town in east Tennessee, staged a ballet at his school based on the 1795 story!  Alas, I only know of it.  I did not see it.

You know what someone should do - they should mount a DS opera. If the often over-the-top nature of much of the DS storylines doesn't lend itself to an opera adaptation, I don't know what does!    The only question is in what language should it be written?

They could do it in spanish, but them have them translate in english with an accent.
