Trask of 1897, mainly because of his desire to "save" women's souls. I cringe whenever he's on screen with Rachel.

1897 Trask was definitely worse.  The Trask of 1795 may have been a psychotic religious fanatic but at least he actually believed what he was saying.  He really thought he was doing the right thing. His descendant Gregory Trask in 1897 was a complete hypocrite who used his position as a clergyman to further his own selfish goals.

Very true, even Jerry Lacy believes this.  ;)

I voted for the 1897 model too, for the same reasons.  Not to mention the point I brought up in some other thread about the two Trasks, that he used his religion to cover up his many crimes -- which the implication is included rape,  sexual molestation and quite likely incest.

As to 1795, that's really spot on.  Off the wall as that Trask seemed, he really DID believe in what he was doing.  And thanks to BuzzH for the comment on Jerry Lacy's take on that Trask.

What is the line between good and evil?

You do have to give some regards to the Reverend in 1795, he actually right about there being a witch.   [_witch_] If he wasn't so boneheaded about his being right as to who on his first, incorrect guess, he might have been almost a hero, albeit a rather slimy one.  Gregory is the blatant hypocrite. Jerry Lacey was great as all the Trasks, even the butler in PT.

Yeah, in fact, he went so far as to say that the original Trask was his favorite of the Trask's for this very reason.  ;)

Makes a lot of sense from an actor's POV.  We knew so little about Lamar, and Gregory was SUCH pondslime that as much fun as it might have been to be that full out evil, he might have needed Prof. Stokes disinfectant after a long run of playing the guy.

The original Reverend, though, would be more straighforward to create, being just a zealot who had gotten the totally wrong end of the stick.

All of the Trasks were scum but I vote for Gregory Trask, child abuser, wife killer, blackmailer, golddigger... >:(

I don't think his ancestor Reverend Trask of 1795 was a whole lot better either. I always wondered whether or
not he really cared if he got the real witch or in Barnabas's words he just wanted a witch (any woman at all)
just to prove he was as big as all that. >:(

Lamar was the least naughty Trask of them all, but I still don't like him....he's just an annoying busybody, but just like his father, once he makes up his mind someone is guilty he doesn't budge an inch. >:(
