OT: Which series do DS fans find more appealing?

This is a tough one. I was an avid viewer of both and liked both for different reasons. If I had to pick one, I suppose it would be The Addams Family. Gomez and "Tish" just cracked me up! I also thought the other family members were cleverly portrayed, especially Lurch and Cousin It. I do miss them all.!! They were all more sophisticated than the Munsters, which made their anitcs more humorous.

Lots of great lines that can slide by while one is concentrating on the visuals.    What the hell was going on in Kansas City, that TV liked talking about it so much?

You're right! Maybe it's because it sounds so far away. No matter where you are, you're almost always far away from Kansas City.

Liked both shows back in the day and they still hold up fairly well. I would give the edge to the Addams Family for being a tad more sophisticated.

As a kid, the Munsters. I'd rather laugh than think back then. Now -- the Munsters because I'd rather laugh than think.

They're both great.   The Addams Family did have more "meaning" to it though-- a sort of counter-culture sensibility, saying that the weirdos were really the cooler and more interesting ones, and not to be stigmatized for it.  This even came out for all to see, in the episode with the motorcycle guy who had to hide and recover in their house.

As for laughs vs. thinking, I find that it's not a matter of one vs. the other.  They're not mutually exclusive.   I think that you get more and sometimes bigger laughs from stuff that has intelligence and thought put into it.   But then, the Munsters had its share of that too.
