Okay, MB and Midnight---you might wish to explain--for our younger friends on the board--exactly what a phonograph (aka record player) is. I only say this because three or four years ago I went to Best Buy in search on a "turntable." The display example did not have a stylus (needle), so I asked the very young salesboy to open one of the Sony turntable boxes, with the promise that if it included a needle I would buy it. We went to the front of the store (where those guys hang around checking receipts) and the kid opened the box and I showed him the stylus/needle and his reply was: "oh, so that's what a record player looks like"! Despite his lack of knowledge, I bought the turntable--but I was still in shock that a salesperson at an electronics store wouldn't know what a turntable/phongraph/record player was.
Of course, I have friends who stop by and are in awe of my Akai reel-to-reel tape deck, but that's another story. LOL.
