New Dark Shadows animated series from WB!
« on: June 26, 2026, 03:09:51 PM »
A new Dark Shadows animated series from WB is in the works. I’ve long wanted to see a DS animated series, and have been fortunate enough to get some insights into this. I've been talking to one of the producers and will just say he's been a big fan for a long time.

Very interesting - thanks for the link, PennyDreadful. [ghost_smiley]

I quite enjoyed A Discovery of Witches, so learning Lisa Holdsworth is attached as executive producer and is to be the showrunner is encouraging. And I will certainly try to remain optimistic that everything will pan out, but I won't let myself get too excited just yet because, well, we all know why. But, nonetheless, this could be fun...

We'll see if it actually happens. A lot of projects are said to be in development but never evolve into a series. I remember a few years ago when Buffy The Vampire Slayer was quite the hot property. An animated series was proposed that was going to be set in the high school years. The original cast was going to be doing the voices for their characters except for Sarah Michelle Gellar. The project was very much talked about for quite a while. A pilot was made. But there was never a series.

[pointing-up]  Not to mention Buffy just recently had a sequel series update become DOA...

Decent/Respectable article.

They spelled Barnabas correctly, always a good sign, and only one error in Willie as 'caretaker'. I like that they pictured all three Barns. Had a true diehard fan written the article  they would have mentioned the failed pilot and another sentence referencing NODS not being a Barnabas plot, but, I'm not complaining. Eventually I guess I'll have to see if I get WB streaming service. I used to...fingers crossed.

'Adult' So many (crude) jokes... I'll save them for the Games board.

And I know at least TWO fans that loved Depp Shadows!!

I'd say it was safe to assume the two Curtis names are related to Dan?

And the noticably missing name...which is probably a relief to many?

Yes, they are his daughters. Tracy has worked in the entertainment industry for many years. Most of her credits are as an editor. Cathy was on staff at the Los Angeles Times and has published several biographies of strong women. She also has a website where she offers "biography coaching." There was a third sister named Linda who was an actress. She passed away in 1975.

You're welcome, dom.

Daughter Linda appeared in Nightmare at 43 Hillcrest, which appeared on ABC Wide World of Mystery in 1974. This was shot on videotape and aired opposite The Tonight Show. Despite its title, it is not a supernatural themed show. The police are looking for drug dealers and inadvertently bust the wrong house. Rather than admit their mistake and possibly jeopardize their careers, they concoct an elaborate scheme to frame the innocent family. A sympathetic officer attempts to help them but it's an uphill battle.
BTW, the officer is played by John Karlen. And it was directed by Dan Curtis. Sadly, Linda would pass away the following year.

VERY interesting, Unc. Thanks again. If I can remember to, I'm gonna see if it's available to watch. The plot, not so far-fetched these days, unfortunately.
