Another DS reference:
There's this fun and amazing NY cable access show called
Ghoul a Go-Go. It's a "kids" go-go dance show hosted by a vampire (Vlad) and his pals Creighton (a hunchback) and the Invisible Man. The show usually features kids dancing to obscure 60s garage rock, plus skits and various clips from horror movies & 50s instructional films. The show also features great underground 60s style garage bands as musical guests at the end of each episode. I am loving this show! It's fun, clever and entertaining.Â
The DS references I've caught so far: In the opening credits, when Vlad is rising from his coffin, if you look in the background amongst the lit candles - he has the "Barnabas Collins Dark Shadows Game" leaning against the wall! Also, Vlad always carries Barnabas' wolfhead cane around with him. Â
You can catch the webcasts of
Ghoul a Go-Go at
www.wvvh.tv on Thursdays at 6:00 PM, Fridays at 6:00 AM and again at 3:00 PM. They have a website -
www.ghoulagogo.com - but it is a geocities site so it can be hard to get in sometimes.
