I've never understood what did or did not happen to Josette (I don't mean the death, I'm talking about the day or two prior).  Anyone else bitten by the vampire knows what has happened to them and becomes sort of a slave to him.  In the beginning she made sure to cover her neck, was very evasive, seemed drawn to him a bit differently than previously.  So, I figured that she realizes what he is!!

When he tries to warn her off and tells her she will be as he is, etc., she seems to understand, at least up to a point.

Yet, Ben points out that presumably she doesn't realize that there's a coffin being prepared for her and that she will have to die.  That turns out to be true.  I can understand that she doesn't fully appreciate what becoming like him would mean, but she seems to be completely oblivious to what he is.  After all, he DID bite her.  She has to have some idea!!!

Meanwhile, Barnabas had previously asked Ben to stake him.  He prefers a true death and peace to what he has become.  Yet, loving her, he can presume to do it to her?!!  He does try to warn her a bit, but surely he'd be a bit more specific.  And, even with her insistence, if he really loved her, presumably he wouldn't do it.

From what I can tell, she seemed to know jack.  Their "discussion" of their future together was chock full of stuff like, "it will be a journey through darkness with only the light of our love to guide us" (loosely quoting here) and lacking when it came to practicalities: "I am dead.  You'll be dead.  We sleep in coffins and we need to drink the blood of the living to survive."

Sooo . . . it's not that surprising that she didn't react so well to Angelique's rather accurate depiction of what she was going to look like.

Ummm, not much it seems. [goofy]  I agree she knew he was sucking her blood out and she should have remained under his power and been OK with WHATEVER he wanted. I presume Angelique's powers overthrew Barney's.  It still comes off as inconsistent. But, then her love for Barn was never strong enough to ward off Angie's spells.

Personally, I think their love for each other was a bunch of rot. Nothing more than silly posturing and a lot of talk, that never once came through when it needed to actually mean something. The lack of chemistry between Frid and TLTKLS only makes it more obvious. [pimp]

Another good one that remains a mystery. :-/  Sure, you would think that once bitten, she would remain under his powers. She was so weak & pale throughout the whole ordeal, but she sure gained her strength when she was up there on Widows hill.  Once again, I guess Angelique got the best of them. >:(
