I love Angelique yet I hate her too. I feel sorry about how Barnabas doesnt' feel the same way about her after the events on Martinique, but she went way over board with it. I was happy yet sad when she was shot the first time, the second time she was strangeled I was more sad then happy, I don't know why though. Probably because she was trying to prevent the death of more people.

Oh, I think that sums it up! I love the character, her beauty and all the fire she brings to the show, in more ways than one. But, like her as a person? Au contraire! :D >:(

I feel the same way. Angelique brings much to the show - it just wouldn't be Dark Shadows without her and her curses - what would the Collins family do with all that extra time on their hands? Of course, if I knew someone like Angelique in real life I wouldn't care for her at all but the character is entertaining on the show.

Hi Dark Shadows, I enjoy watching Angelique. I don't always agree with what she does, but I feel she definetely adds exitement to the show! I also love watching the scenes she's in because I know they'll be something exiting happening. One thing's for sure, she's never boring! ;)

Angelique was definately a character I loved to hate!  Her on-going conflict with Barnabas added much excitement to the show.  I would anxiously await her defeat, but always looked forward to her inevitable return!

I remember when I was a teenager watching the show that I wished Angelique would work her spells on me to make me want her, (which will give you an idea how sick I was)!

I really loved to hate Angelique on the original show. You could feel sorry for her, and yet hate what she did.

On the 1991 show Angelique wasn't as well written. I just hated her.

Angelique is the perfect nemesis for Barnabas Collins... the actress was great, the character was wonderful to watch but not too good to full around with, as Barnabas later found out.  I don't believe Barnabas deserved the punishment he received for rejecting Angelique, but for a witch, she had a great imagination!  I feel the scenes come alive when she's in them.  I don't particular care for the BLACK WIG but I understand the reason for it. ;)

As a teenager, I wished I could BE Angelique!  True, she muffed her spells sometimes, but she sure knew how to mess with enemies' heads.  I always felt sorry for her because she obviously had an inferiority complex.  With her looks, charm and smarts, she should have been able to get any guy she wanted--without using anything magic-related except her bewitching eyes.  Latching on so voraciously to a man who didn't return her feelings was her downfall; ironically, when he finally DID return her love, she'd become human and ended up losing him.  Irony played a large role in her life.

The Barnabas-Angelique dynamic was largely responsible for DS' success, IMHO.  The two of them together had combustible chemistry, and it exploded when they took on the personas of Bramwell and Catherine in 1840-1PT.

Love, Robin
