Dr. Franklin and some tidbits
« on: February 21, 2005, 08:14:51 AM »
I was watching "Splendor in the Grass" which I had never seen.  I looked up the cast in the IMDB and the name Ivor Francis sounded familiar.  I looked him up and one of items was Dr. Franklin from 1967 in Dark Shadows.  Offhand I can't recall which doctor he was.  Does anyone remember?

That led me to click on their Dark Shadows links.  I was surprised to see they list the full cast, even the tiniest of parts was listed.  I also checked the summary of the show.  I think they did a pretty good job of explaining the basic storyline and hinting at some of the later ones and explaining the general way the show was done.

One interesting item I had never read before was that Joan Bennett used some of her own jewelry as Elizabeth.

He attended to Liz when she woke up in a Boston hospital.
She was sent there after Laura put her in a trance for trying to keep David from his mom.
His daughter is Genie Francis, who played Laura on General Hospital.

Thank you, Midnite!  I figured he was one of those early ones.  What I found interesting was in the IMDB, when the results for a name comes up, they often put the name of a particularly well-known movie, etc. next to the person's name to help idenitfy whichi actor one is looking for.  Next to his name was Dark Shadows!!  So, evidently that bit part was his most notable role?!!
