Dark Shadows Christmas
« on: December 27, 2003, 03:33:43 AM »
Hello everyone,

I just wanted to share that I got two Dark Shadows DVD Sets (8 and 9). I already have Sets 5-7, so I was very excited. As you can tell my favorite character is Victoria Winters.  I plan on getting the DVD Sets up to Set 11 which is Victoria Winters last appearence.

Incase you guys are wondering why I havent gotten Sets 1-4, it's because I would like to start with episode 1, if they ever do release the early Pre-Barnabas episodes.

Has anyone else started to watch Sets 8 and 9? The Dream Curse and Adam Storyline are happening. Does anyone think they will release the Pre-Barnabas episodes?

I ordered set 8 & 9 (Christmas gift for myself  ;D) but just got a notice from Amazon.Com that there is a delay in getting set 8. I read somewhere that once the entire series (the Barnabas era) is completed they are going to put the pre-Barnbas era on DVD.  I sure hope so. Even though it's entirely in B&W, it's very good and deserves it's place in the DVD Collection. My only complaint is that they are cutting out the bloopers as they go when producing the DVDs. I'm so grateful that between my brother and myself, we have the entire VHS series that includes all of the bloopers.  I wish that they would have behind the scenes materials on the DVDs. Unfortunately they probably have some dead head at the DVD place who doesn't have any imagination and doesn't understand that most DS fans want it all and nothing needs to be discarded.

I had a SLIGHTLY Dark Shadows Christmas!  My son gave me the Reunion DVD.  Only seen a little bit if it so far but it looks kind of dull.   8)

Actually, all I REALLY wanted was an official Red Rider carbine action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time.
But I didn't get it.

Guess what Santa DID bring me!!  A digital camera!!
WHOA!  [shkdb]
I must have been very good this year.  (News to ME)!  lol

I love Santa.

Dark Shadows: Pre Barnabas Era

Hello,

I pray MPI release these episodes (1-209) I just know I would enjoy them even if they are in Black and White. The show is probably a lot more spookier that way. Has anyone seen these episodes? Are they enjoyable? I dont want any major details, but what are the different Storylines that went on during these episodes?

Also do you guys think they will be released on DVD?

The pre-Barnabas episodes are in black and white and they are some of the most enjoyable IMO. Some of the storylines--Vicky's arrival at Collinwood and her search for her identity.
Burke Devlin tries to clear himself of manslaughter charges.
Bill Malloy's murder.
Vicky's kidnapping.
The Phoenix.

I've heard that MPI will probably release them on dvd after the rest of the series is out .They may be available on vhs still from MPI.I have them on vhs and have watched them twice. There are a lot of nice character moments , but the pace is slow to the point of glacial. Only for a serious fan .That said , there are some nice character moments , especially between Liz and Vicky that make up for Burke's revenge storyline , which is boring beyond the telling of it.Once Laura shows up things pick up quite a bit.
