P&P Question
« on: October 24, 2013, 06:42:30 PM »
Nothing on TV for me last night, so I popped in E.A. Poe's "Pit and the Pendulum", starring Vincent Price.

A few questions:
Has anyone recently seen this version? I'm asking, because at the start of film, Elizabeth's brother is taken near to the house. There's alot of ocean/sea scenery; but, I can't place which ocean it is...it's quite blue, which definitely lets out Atlantic (at least on USA's side). If I had to guess, to me it looks clean and blue like what I've seen on film near Alaska...
But, I don't know if it's been 'remastered' etc...we all remember all the 'hubbub' of the '80s when films were being 'colored-ized'.

Next, as soon as I put the DVD in, I immediately remember that there's a story arc with  [hall_kiss] Quentin.
Sorry to saw, I can't remember the time (years and/or Real time v Parallel time).

Thanks

Patti

The DS riff on Pit & the Pendulum took place in 1897 during the Count Petofi era.

Since this was a Roger Corman quickie, I would imagine that those shots of the ocean are stock footage.

Another DS connection with this version of PIT & THE PENDULUM (which I adore) is that Barbara Steele, who played Julia in 1991 DS, has a special role.

The stock footage of the house by the sea was re-used in a couple of Monkees episodes too...
