Those of you who live in towns that have Walgreens stores should check out the low price DVD bins.
Walgreens has a contract with Front Row Entertainment, a Canadian based DVD company with huge catalogue.
The Front Row titles are sparse, no extras, but the price: $3.99 a disc!
Here's what I picked up today:
"The Last Days of Patton"(1986), in which Kathryn Leigh Scott had one of her biggest & best post DS roles. She's a knockout in her 1940s outfits!
"Joe"(1970), a highly controversial film in it's day. Susan Sarandan's debut, her Dad is played by a second billed Dennis Patrick, who should have gotten an Oscar nomination for this.
"Scarlett Street"(1945) in which an incredibly sexy 35 year old Joan Bennett seduces Edward G Robinson. Film has a scene considered to be quite an eyebrow raiser in the '40s, Joan gets her toenails painted by Robinson, who kneels at her feet like a slave!
Print & sound quality are pretty good, but not perfect, on all discs, and it's always nice to see DS actors playing good roles in other projects. Bela Lugosi fans take note: this company has a lot of his public domain titles as well.
