More plot holes.................
« on: September 20, 2003, 02:27:56 AM »
I LOVE Dark Shadows but todays episode is exactly why I have to forget about making sense out of the plot holes and just enjoy the show for what it is.  To me it's a show that takes me back to a time of innocence.  It's my piece of nostalgia and I love it because of that but sometime it drives me nuts..............

I saw the end of the second episode today.  Time travelling Barnabas bit Roxanne in 1840 which is why in 1970 she is a vampire.  The only problem with this is that in 1840 Barnabas was still chained in his coffin.  He could not have bitten her so why is she a vampire in 1970?  I do think it's sloppy writing and I wish Dan Curtis would have invested in someone to keep the plotlines consistant but he didn't and I love the show for all that it means to me.

Oh yes, Murph....I totally agree.  It's filled with so many memories of times past that it's worth the frustration.  My husband just chuckles and rolls his eyes, but he didn't run home form school to watch it! (Although he does humor my fixation).

Remember that episode when Julia is locked in a room by Bruno?  And if Barn opens the door, the gun goes off?  That originally aired on a Friday afternoon - and I had a Girl Scout meeting (snort!).  I talked my older brother into watching it   >:D  (Didn't end up getting resolved until Monday - oh well).

Then he got hooked on the show for a while and we watched together  ;D

Ah memories -

c'ya!

I thought the same thing Murph.  I was just starting to make some sense of all of these time travel paradoxes and now, along comes this.  Perhaps, this isn't the same Roxanne after all.
I also seem to remember that the Roxanne in this storyline (1840) was destroyed by (I believe) her own brother.  So if this be the case, how then did she survive to make it to 1970?

Re Cassandra's question about Roxanne's destruction, I believe it was Barnabas who told her brother about her and what he had to do.  So, this would be a new thing that happened after they went back in time.  So, the first time she wasn't destroyed, and now she is.
However, I've always been bothered about how she originally became a vampire, seeing that Barnabas wasn't released from the coffin that time.  The children also mentioned remembering attacks like that when they found the body in the woods.  So, we have to guess that another vampire was on the scene originally.  But, then where is it now?!!

Perhaps that other vampire saw Barnabas and ran off.
