When Maggie's beloved afghan was destroyed during a particularly rowdy night at the Tool Shed Bar & Grille, Sam and Joe didn't know how they could keep Maggie from finding out – but finally they decided...

...to procure one of the afghan's numerous illegitimate offspring, give it Afghan Growth Hormone injections so it would grow real fast to full size, and then drape it over the sofa and act as though nothing had happened.

(Didn't they do that on I Love Lucy?  Anyway, I miss SaraMonster.   She had the best jokes for awhile there.  See above...)

... to lie in wait for another, identical time-travelling afghan to appear on the couch, and pounce on it and nab it, like the seasoned big quilt hunters that they were.
