After Burke said to Sam in the diner, about Laura's arrival, "Start sweating, Sam!"... immediately I had a mental picture of Burke saying that, followed instantly by every pore in Sam's face bursting forth with its own streams of water/sweat, shooting several feet across the room, in all directions!   Well, made me LOL, anyway...

I liked that Laura admitted to Burke that he had understandable reason to be bitter.   It's the only acknowledgement of the real nature of the accident that he's had from anyone.   When Burke says David's the kind of kid the two of them could have had, Laura answers significantly": "Exactly the kind."   Hint hint.

BIG SPOILER:
Did the burning in Arizona press the reset button on her sanity, enough to get herself together and come to Collinsport?   Was that why she did it?    I think she never stopped being insane, though...
More of the spooky spell-casting music as Sam tries to fight whatever it is that is forcing him to paint-- well, something that we will see soon. At any rate, Sam finds it horrifying, so we get a genuine cliffhanger ending.

When Maggie says that Laura does not eat and seldom drinks her coffee, I cannot help but think it could be a reflection on someone's cooking skills.  Laura was considered to be hopelessly insane. I can picture electroshock. I wonder if Roger had considered lobotomy.
you know there's a whole wing that's closed off all the time; the west wing, I go there lots of times

I liked that Laura admitted to Burke that he had understandable reason to be bitter.   It's the only acknowledgement of the real nature of the accident that he's had from anyone.
I thought about that, but decided that she might be saying Burke had reason to be bitter, even if he was indeed guilty, because his friends had kicked him when he was down.  I can't remember what we were told about the trial, but instead of doing the Collins best to extract Burke from the mess, Roger testified against Burke - didn't he?  And I don't remember hearing that Laura testified against Burke, but even if she stayed in the background, she certainly didn't help him.

Laura seemed more sharply defined today than she has seemed in previous episodes.  My impression is that, as I tentatively suggested the other day, Laura came to Collinsport not knowing why she was doing it - perhaps not knowing why she was doing anything; merely obeying the voices in her head (or whatever) - and now everything is becoming clearer and clearer to her.

Burke says David is like Laura as she used to be.  That's sort of fun to imagine.

A bit of tactless on Sam's part: when Laura says to him, "You look the same," he responds, "Alcohol is a preservative.  You're just as beautiful as ever."  Or maybe he just didn't know that alcohol was one of the problems that landed her in an institution.
