Naomi Collins Died in 1821?

Didn't the Namoi Collins we know die in 1795/96?  How come her tombstone says otherwise?  Now don't tell me that it was because Barnabas went and changed the pass.  Naomi died before he jumped back so it makes no sense.  Oh, wait a minute...

the other day, when Liz had that dream about Cassandra's ghost appearing, and then afterwards her ghost really appeared to Liz, it made me wonder how that could happen when Cassandra was really Angelique, who up to yesterday was still alive.  I guess Ang has her ways.........

The only logical explanation I can come up with for this very confusing subject is that Joshua simply lied in the history books about Naomi's real date of death.  He had mentioned to Ben that he wasn't going to add in the real facts about all the tragedies that occured there.  I remember him saying that he would simply say that Naomi lived out her life and "died of natural causes."

I guess he figured that if he put in her real death date, she'd be too young to die of natural causes,  (although back then everyone seemed to die young anyway.)  So it beats me?

The American Colonies (and I think the American Republic for awhile, but I'm not sure), still used the old Julian Calendar in the eighteenth century.  It was behind the Gregorian Calendar - only by several days, less than two weeks, but I'm just pretending that it was a bit longer back then.  So that explains it.

As lenient as I can usually be, these gross errors with the dates on the tombstones is a bit much.  The way I understand it is that Joshua adopted Daniel and Millicent lived out her life at Collinwood. Perhaps he took liberties with the truth when writing the history books  but he could never have fooled the townspeople completely.  That's why there was so much folklore about the Collinses passed down over the years. And as we find out in 1897, the most terrible secret of the Collinses was passed down from generation to generation despite what the history books said.
