It's always a pleasure to see Humbert Allen Astredo, and it was special fun to see him so unsmilingly severe, but the appearance of Nicholas Blair does raise some interesting issues. Angelique said that the Leviathans occupied a dark pit of hell, or something of the sort, but it wasn't until today that I started thinking about the how Diabolos and the Leviathans might interact. Apparently the Leviathans lolled around that pit for thousands of years doing nothing until Nicholas Blair had the bright idea of injecting them into Collinsport, which suggests to me that Nicholas has the job of coming up with creative ideas to amuse Diabolos. When he came looking for Angelique in 1968, it started out as merely a matter of cleaning up the mess of that one particular damned soul had made, and the Adam and Eve business was, as far as Nicholas was concerned, just a by-product. But he claims to have been in on the Leviathan business from the start, keeping an eye on it to make sure it didn't go too far astray - and now it has.
I loved seeing Nicholas and Bruno laughing together. Somehow that just seemed perfect.
When Megan gave Carolyn the sedative, I wondered whether the pill might be something more harmful than a sedative, but I guess she wouldn't dare. Incidentally, isn't there something terribly, terribly wrong about a redhead other than Julia living at Collinwood and handing out sedatives?
