This gets more into the realm of literary works that have influenced DS. The current New York Review of Books podcast features Joyce Carol Oates discussing Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle.  Naturally, "The Lottery" comes up, and so does the influence of Henry James, particularly The Turn of the Screw. The discussion is related to a written piece by Oates in the October 8 edition of the Review.

The Fridster has read "The Lottery" in the various versions of his one-man show.  It's a great piece.

By the way, I love those podcasts too, Crisdeyde.
