Back to the show's inconcsistencies on dates. Of course, we know we can't believe the tomb dates in light of what will eventually be shown in 1795, still, the current birthdates mess everything up as well. We recently had a discussion about the age difference between Barnbas and Sarah. Of course, we really don't know how old Barnabas was supposed to be, just how old Jonathan Frid actually was at the time. But, if the dates in the mausoleum are to be believed, then Joshua and Naomi were 40 and 34 and Sarah 9 at the time we knew them. That all makes sense, except, how old would Barnabas be then?!!!

one I think they just ignored the obvious here but do consider it a sloppy writing!!

At this point, Barnabas' origin of being a vampire happened in the 1820's. He also commented that Sarah died long before he met Josette, so he and her may have been believed to be around the same age when she died at this point.

Good post Gerard. I always felt Barnabas was supposed to be about  twenty five that is why it never worked for me to have actors in their forties.  I just try to choose and ignore it and supspend disbelief.  Regardless of if you like the WB pilot are at least they cast an actor who was around the age Barnabas was really supposed to be.  As for Johnny Deep he still could pass for being in his thirties, in my opinion, so I think he will be fine for Barnabas.
