When Peter learned that Trask had simply disappeared, did he stop to wonder if maybe Vicky was a witch after all?  Trask's disappearance would look like a perfect act of vengeance on her part.

And I wonder if Judge Hanley thought that Joshua had been bewitched by Vicky.

When the crowd outside started making noise after the gun was fired in the jail, I naturally filled in the action outside with music and lyrics from Gilbert and Sullivan, slightly altered:  "Hark, what was that sound?"  "Why, an arquebus, fired from the jail, unless I much mistake!"  "Strange, and at such an hour!  What can it mean?"  Very stirring.  Dark Shadows and Gilbert and Sullivan go together like pins and little wax dolls.

I was impressed by how Joshua was selective about the truth he told to two people: Naomi to protect her from knowing the truth about Barnabas, and Judge Hanley about Vicki's innocence to try to save her. He showed great compassion and a willingness to correct his wrongs. He was successful in temporarily putting Naomi off, but unsuccessful in getting Vicki off.  It's too bad Joshua was not able to talk the judge into dropping the charges of witchcraft against Vicki. It was sweet to see Peter and Vicki getting so close. I agree with Robin, I like them together!  [snow_happy]

I don't think Peter ever thought Vicki had anything to do with Trask's disappearance. After all he still believed her innocent even after hearing her story of coming from the 20th centuray. If that didn't convince him that Vicki may have been a witch, then I doubt Trask's vanishing act could have persuaded him either.

Although I do think that Judge Hanley believes that Vicki may have had a hand in Trask going missing since he never showed up in person to explain why he believed Vicki was innocent in his note.

You make a great point though about Judge Hanley thinking Vicki put Joshua under her power. Joshua did do a complete turn-around all of a sudden and really didn't offer very much to prove Vicki was NOT the real witch.

Did they even have the concept of one person framing another for a crime yet, and wouldn't anyone stop to think that a witch would be in a perfect position to do that?  Or hadn't logic been invented yet? (Sarcasm, by the way)

Poor Joshua, he's really burdened at this point with so many things: trying to rid Barnabas of his curse, dealing with Naomi's questions and trying to protect her, and attempting to speak on Vicki's behalf, and nothing went right for him at all!  [snow_sad]
Barnabas to little Sarah's ghost: "I forbid you to leave! I beg you to stay!"

These episodes show Louis Edmonds at his finest.  He brings such a gravitas and weight to his work here, making us really feel the emotional turmoil the character is undergoing.  It's 180 degrees from the effete snobbishness of Roger Collins.  Great acting.
