I remember watching this episode a few years back. It was the first time in quite a while that I had watched 1795, and while I remembered the general outline, I didn't remember the details. As Joshua watched Barnabas's hand - unmistakably Barnabas's, with the ring - coming out of the coffin, I suddenly realized that I was saying out loud, "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God." I think that moment was the most powerful in the whole series.
So many times when I'm watching Dark Shadows, I think to myself: "I love watching this, but if I were an actor, I'm not sure I'd want to be doing it." (More evidence that I have zero comprehension of what it is that impels an actor to act.) But I sure don't get that feeling with this scene.
Collinwood is a fully equipped, isn't it? Liquor and firearms in every room!
