JONATHAN FRID DVD FROM FESTIVAL STILL AVAILABLE!
« on: August 24, 2007, 03:03:54 PM »
During Jonathan's readings on Saturday, he showed clips of previous performances on DVD.  That same DVD, along with other readings, most satirical, is still available.  I have copies from the fest and I'm charging at cost $10.00 and $3.95 for shipping.  Email me at redceltt@aol.com if you want a copy.  I take checks, money orders and paypal.

i wanted to reply to the topic of festival footage on youtube but it has been locked. what is the reason for videotaping being banned at festivals? i know performances have always had videotaping restrictions but questions and answers sessions have always been ok for taping untill last year. then it was thought to be because of nancy barrett being upset over her show being taped and sold. nancy was not even at the festival this year. seems unfair that videographers that want to videotape dont because they dont want to break the rules and then others go ahead and do it anyway.

I don't know the reason for not allowing people to videotape Q&As.  I'm wondering if it's a mindset that if people with videocameras are in the ballroom taping Q&As they can readily videotape other things such as performances.

It wasn't just Nancy Barrett. Performance footage of other actors was being sold without the actor's permission or giving them any payment.  Just last week I had to issue a cease and desist from someone who was trying to sell JF's Saturday performance.

I agree.  I don't see any harm in people being allowed to videotape Q&As, skits, etc.  There are people who always who break the rules and those who will not.  It's never fair.  There were people videotaping on Saturday when they should not have been and while some were stopped, others were not because either (a) they weren't visible to fest staff people or (b) they were in an awkward place and it would have created a major disturbance to have crawled/walked to that place to ask them to stop.

I'm wondering if in the latter case we could develop cement spitballs and shoot them at the people who are videotaping when they should not be.  My aim is usually pretty good . . .

As far as I know there were no videotaping restrictions this year, at least I never heard them say no taping was allowed and I was in the room quite a bit on Saturday.  And Pierson never said before Jonathan's reading that taping must stop.  I posted in another thread that I thought it was strange they didn't make such an announcement as I've never known the Fest to allow taping of Jonathan's readings.

"If ya feel it, SIT it!"
"Come on, before he offers me a side car too!"
"Her nose needed some powder!"
"You askin' me to give up something I like?"

i think it was announced in shadowgram. i dont recall any verbal announcement at last years festival. there was just an 8.5x11 hand written paper sign hung up on a bulletin board. it could have easily been missed.

It wasn't in the Fest program book either.   I don't believe any announcement about no videotaping was made at the fest as when I spoke to someone about putting away the camera he was genuinely surprised that I was objecting.  In addition to it being overly crowded in the ballroom, it didn't seem right to go after people who had not been told there was no videotaping.
