Something a little strange re Fest registration

Someone posted on the Feedback on Jonathan's site that he had sent a 300 dollar check in for the Fest and that his whole check was returned saying the banquet was sold out--why not just take part of the check for the Fest registration and refund him the banquet fee, or is it not possible to do that--of course I don't know what that user expected JONATHAN to be able to do about it, but it actually sounded like he did not want to do Fest only anyway...hey, I say better to see Jonathan Saturday afternoon than not at all, but maybe the Fest people wanted to him a chance to register for Fest only f they could not refund only part of his payment??  I mean, I have a few friends who have said they did not enjoy the banquet that much anyway, but with Jonathan there that might be an entirely different story!!

The fest organizers probably didn't want the fuss of going through all the trouble to cash the check and then send the extra money back in another check to the person who was trying to apply. I mean, when I first sent in my registration, I forgot to fill out the form, and I just wrote on a piece of paper what I was paying for and how many people were coming. I got the entire contents of my first envelope back with a sticky note asking me to fill out the registration form. I'm sure it's all a matter of organization and such. Besides, I wouldn't want someone accusing me of shorting them money if I did the whole refund thing.

I am so glad I don't organize these things.  My head exploding would be the pleasant part, from the sound of it all...

You both make very valid points, of things that had not occurred to me, and I do know most of the Fest "committee" are volunteers, anyway, I believe....
