This is a great episode. All the way through it you wonder if Dave is going to get caught. They draw out the whole thing to looking for the notebook and all the time Woodard could be found out. Barnabas and Julia are right on his heals through the whole episode.

I always like the comment of going up stairs and looking at the moldings or the construcrtion of one of the wings. If people didn't know better they would think that Barnabas and Julia were off to fool around.  I know there is only one door in Collinwood, but wouldn't Barnabas know a side door.

Woodard getting out the door as they were in the drawing room was great.

I laughed as Roger ranted and raved at Elizabeth for offering the west wing to Burke and Vicki....one can only imagine the fireworks if Roger and Burke had indeed lived under the same roof! ;D

Yep, Dave is in a world of trouble now that Barnabas and Julia are on to him.....pity he had to go and let Barnabas know he was on his trail.... ::)

The last scene was great I must admit.

Once again, Barnabas callously shoves Julia's feelings aside, how irritating! I suppose it's understandable, given the fact that he's trying to contain his secret and can't be bothered with such a deep subject.

SPOILER AHEAD:

If Barnabas hadn't ordered Dave's death, I wonder what Julia's idea would have been to stop him from exposing Barnabas's secret?

It was rather rude of Roger to say Vicki could easily be replaced by another governess, and evidently Liz thought so as well, seeing as how she's trying to persuade Burke and vicki to remain at Collinwood.

Now that Burke is back in town, Dr. Woodard should have went right to him and told him everything.
Though he should have at least gone to Sam, Joe, or the Sheriff instead of Barnabas.

I don't think he shoved them aside.  It just never occurred to him at that point that she could have tender feelings for him.  If it had, he would asked her how she could so carelessly endanger somebody whom she claimed to love.

Interesting that Roger noticed that Barnabas was preoccupied, but Liz didn't.  Usually Liz is the more perceptive of the two.

Julia poked at a pet peeve of mine today.  She lifted the metal box down from the armoire and didn't notice that it didn't weigh as much as it should have if the notebook was in there.  And the notebook wouldn't have fit snugly into the box, so it would have slid around in it - but Julia didn't notice that there was no sliding when she took the box down from on top of the armoire.  I understand that it's better drama if Julia doesn't realize that the box is empty until she opens it - but it just looks wrong.

Good show, though.  Could Robert Gerringer have hidden behind the door the way Peter Turgeon did?  He was bulkier than Turgeon.

Yes, this was once again a great episode! [cheer] I kept trying to imagine Robert Gerringer instead of Peter Turgeon.  It was hard for me to picture RG sneaking around like that.  It's too bad they had that strike!  It would have been nice to see RG now - he left just before the grand finale! [bawl] It's not the same to see PT in the role. [sadg]

That said, this episode was very exciting!  Indeed, Barnabas and Julia were right behind Dr. Woodard!  [shkdg]  I felt sorry for Julia today... Barnabas once again discounted her feelings. [cryg]

Think there was only a few times that Barnabas really,  acknowledge her feelings . He did it more  later in the show.  But he did use her feeling against her.

To say BC discounted JH's feelings, at this point, is an incredible understatement.   Barnabas was a cold, sadistic killer at this point, and I forget when he finds out about her feelings for him, but when he does, he mocks her over it.    At those times when he doesn't feel she's being useful, he has utter contempt for her and is on the verge of strangling her.
