Thanks, Midnite!

Folks, a lot of the films in tomorrow's Joan Bennett TCM marathon are on DVD, & most of us have HODS.

But I strongly urge everyone to watch Woman
on the Beach (1947) a moody film noir not on disc.
Joan, as always, is gorgeous in this!

And to see a VERY young Joan, check out 1929's Disraeli, in which she co-stars with 70 year old
George Arliss!

Don't worry, David- I've already seen it!  This tribute is long overdue, and perhaps will help bring new prominence to her stature as a film icon.  Now, if only we could get a place like NYC's Film Forum to show a festival of her film noirs by Lang and Renoir, it could do for her what the late 70s reissues of her German silent films did for Louise Brooks!  Joan has always been underrated as an actress, and the more her films are shown on screen and TV the better.

Thanks, folks!

Phil, the arts editor at Express Gay News, admits to running home from school to watch DS!
He's a fan, so I think I'll be able to get lots of DS coverage in this statewide Florida paper.

Unfortunately, I didn't get home in time to watch this unique film and I was out of VHS tapes. But I'd seen it before and loved it. Funny thing how this picture reminds me of Sam Evans...
Kudos to Joan and Moby Dick, in which she co-stars, is a delight as well. At least it's interesting.
I think Scarlet Street is my fave JB film, though. Such a good film. There's no doubt about it; Joan Bennett was one of the best.

I get a kick out of these guys who think they're so clean, when all the time they're trying to cover up their dirt.
