Hello, Dark Shadows Fan,

ShadowGram (SG), The Official Newsletter & News Source for Dark Shadows (DS), announces the following breaking news:

*** DS FESTIVAL UPDATE - DS HAUNTED HALLOWEEN PARTY - THIS THURSDAY

Dark Shadows 40th Anniversary Haunted Halloween Party
Thursday, October 26, 2006 - 7:30 - 11:30 pm
Vista Theater, 4473 Sunset Dr., Los Angeles, CA 90027. 323-660-6639.

Tickets will be sold at the door that evening for this special one-time-only event, just a few days away.

--- ShadowGram Premiere Announcement:
Among the new developments for this most unusual DS evening are:

--- The original Barnabas wolf's head cane from the 1991 NBC-TV "Dark Shadows" primetime revival series will be auctioned. This is the genuine cane that was used by Ben Cross as Barnabas. It is identical to the traditional design used by Jonathan Frid as Barnabas in the 1966-71 series and "House of Dark Shadows" film.

--- Hands & Signatures in Cement Ceremony: The Oscar-nominated / Golden Globe-winning actress KAREN BLACK (Dan Curtis' "Burnt Offerings" and "Trilogy Of Terror") joins previously-announced famed "Scream Queen" actress BARBARA STEELE ("Black Sunday," "The Pit & The Pendulum", and Dr. Julia Hoffman / Natalie in the 1991 DS primetime revival TV series) in placing their hands and signatures in cement outside the Vista Theatre at the start of the evening.

In addition to the new activities mentioned above, the DS Haunted Halloween Party will include the following:

--- A half-hour concert of Robert Cobert's original music from DS with Robert Cobert in attendance.

--- A big-screen presentation of unusual DS material will be shown. Also screening is a tribute to DS creator Dan Curtis, who passed away earlier this year.

--- A Barnabas Collins Look-Alike Costume Contest encourages attendees to come in costume as the popular DS vampire and compete for a special prize. As a reminder, all attendees are welcome to come in costume if they wish!

--- An auction of rare DS and related memorabilia will take place

--- Free guest autographs will be available. Color / B&W photos and books written by some of the guests will be offered for purchase; these can be autographed at no extra cost. Some guests will be dressed in costume as their original characters.

--- In addition to Karen Black and Barbara Steele, the following DS actors are confirmed to appear, barring profesional commitments:
David Selby (Quentin), Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie), Lara Parker (Angelique), John Karlen (Willie), Jerry Lacy (Trask), Chris Pennock (Jeb), Robert Rodan (Adam), and Betsy Durkin (Victoria #2).

--- Appearing with guest Karen Black is the original Zuni fetish doll that terrorized her character in Dan Curtis' 1975 cult TV film "Trilogy Of Terror."

The historic restored Vista Theatre is at the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards, 3 blocks east of Vermont Avenue, in Los Feliz (Los Angeles). The event will benefit the UCLA Alzheimer's Research Center in memory of Dan & Norma Curtis.

Each attendee will receive a complimentary gift. Those who purchase tickets in advance at the Vista box office (or who pre-purchased tickets through postal-mail) receive an additional surprise. An assortment of new DS merchandise will be for sale, along with popcorn, soft drinks, candy, and other refreshments.

Tickets are only $20 for adults, $15 for seniors & students, and $10 for children ages 6-12.

Tickets at the same price will be sold at the door that evening.

Or you can purchase advance tickets in person at the Vista box office after 4:00 pm on weekdays.

For out-of-town visitors: The Burbank Bob Hope Airport is only about 7 miles north of the Vista and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is about 12 miles southwest of the Vista. For sleeping accommodations, approximately ½-mile from the theatre are 2 hotels: The Hollywood Travel Lodge, 1401 N. Vermont Ave., 323-665-5735, and the Hollywood Ramada Inn, 1160 N.Vermont Ave., 323-660-1788.

A printable flyer is at www.collinwood.net/hollywood-halloween
