I thought that when India Delaney left Somerset back in the early 1970's, that would have been the end of the character. And certainly the cancelation of Somerset would have put an end to her entirely. Looks like I was wrong. Because India has been hiding in plain sight. The character, along with other Somerset characters, has been appearing in a web based fan fiction since 2008 called Harper's Falls.
According to the story, India became involved with a John Harper. They had a long term relationship though they never married. The Harper family mellowed India quite a bit. She's described as fun loving and wacky, which is not how I remember her on Somerset.
I don't know how to access the stories but I think that it's quite remarkable that India remains a viable character after all these years.

This is all too wild. I loved Marie Wallace as India back in the day. In fact, one of the first things I said to Marie when I met her for the first time at the DS party at the Red Zone back in 1989, was that not only did I have fond memories of her time on DS, but that I had more than fond memories of her time as India on Somerset. And I even recounted one of my all-time favorite India scenes in which she had uncovered how her second husband, Chuck Hillman (played by Edward Winter, who is probably most well known for having played intelligence officer, Colonel Sam Flagg on M*A*S*H) was scheming against her in the company they both ran, how he thought he'd really outmaneuvered her, but it was she who'd actually outmaneuvered him. Her triumphant line to him was, "You thought you'd pulled the rug out from under me? Well, I've pulled the wall-to-wall carpeting out from under you, darling!" I loved that line and remember how Marie delivered it brilliantly. Marie actually had a good laugh that I remembered the scene so well nearly 20 years later. Little does she know that I still remember it as if I just saw it today, even though now it's more than 50 years later.
