Joanne Woodward was a DS fan. Can you imagine if she had done a cameo as one of Barnabas' floozies?  ;)

I'd much rather her husband (Paul Newman) had done a cameo as one of Julia's patients.  Imagine the tight close-ups of those beautiful eyes being hypnotized....... ;)

I read Craig Hamrick's biography of Louis Edmonds last week, and was shocked to learn that Carol Burnett asked to be briefly written into All My Children in 1983.  She never did anything of the sort for Dark Shadows!  I'm sure she could have done a nice job as Evan Handley's extravagant wife - assuming that Zsa Zsa Gabor didn't beat her out in auditions.  Which brings me to the reason for my post:  whom would we like to have seen playing all these uncast roles?  And shouldn't there have been a series of celebrity cameos for Barnabas's dockside victims?  Not to mention a special guest appearance by Elsie the Cow.

Wow, there are absolutely so many actresses (or actors?) who could have portrayed Barnabas' seemingly-innumerable dockside victims!  How about such current-day, acting "legends" as:

Paris Hilton
Carmen Electra
Janene Garafolo (sp?)
Jennifer Lopez
Demi Moore-Kutcher (?)
Courtney Love
Star Jones
Jenny McCarthy
Jodi Sweetin (from, I believe, "Full House")
Anna Nicole Smith
Yasmeen Bleeth (sp? From the "timeless" and "immortal" crime series, "Nash Bridges")
Joy Behar
Mariah Carey
Katie Couric (a/ka/ "THE Princess of Perkiness!")

As to a current day male actor, who could have portrayed a short-lived D.S. character, how  about, as that clueless, almost completely vacuous pretty-boy-creation of the renowned/magically-talented artist, Mr. Charles Delaware Tate, the equally clueless, vacuous, and, I might add, completely self-absorbed "star" of "classic" Sci-Fi Channel "original" movies, the one-and-only, Mr. Richard Grieco!?! >:D

Carol Burnett was/is a huge fan of AMC, that's why she wanted to be on it.  Don't know if she was a fan of DS, but I'm guessing no and that's why she didn't ask to be on it.  Plus the fact that she probably didn't have the kind of clout she did, and still does, in 1983 in the 60's when DS was on the air.  Just my two cents.  ;)
Buzz-isms:

"I know just the place!?Over in Logansport!"
"If ya feel it, SIT it!"
"Come on, before he offers me a side car too!"
"Her nose needed some powder!"
"You askin' me to give up something I like?"

I hope that this exercise hasn't been done before.  I thought it would be interesting to list the "characters" that were mentioned on the show but never seen.  This has happened several times during the 1970 PT plotline that I am currently watching.  One character mentioned, and I assume will never be shown, is Maggie's sister.  During the course of the show, I'm sure there have been many others.  So, anyone want to start naming names?

jennifer evans (my aka) wasn't she just in 1970PT?

Oh I think Paul Newman has got to be the sexiest man out there in Hollywood. [hall2_wink]

I could imagine Paul coming onto the show as a potential love interest for Julia....thus stoking Barnabas' jealous and arousing his true feelings for her. [hall2_wink]

Maybe as Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was one tough cookie (but a lovable one too). Bette Davis was famous for playing tough cookies.

Simon Briar (?), Minerva Trask's late brother, whose death was somehow connected to Rachel Drummond and Tim Shaw. According to Minerva, he was the finest man that ever lived. That I'd have to see.

Also, Eliot Stokes' brother who was Hallie's father.

In 1795, Natalie refers to her late sister-in-law (Andre's wife and Josette's mother) Marie DuPres!
If you count the extended canon, she does finally appear in the Big Finish Production "The Chrimson Pearl", played by KLS.

What about the Oscar Collins mentioned in the letter from Quentin to Jamison that Barnabas and Julia found in 1968?  We never saw him...
Oscar was the original name chosen for Edward, just as Molly was the original name for Amy.

Gerald Soames, Lady Kitty's husband, who was involved with Count Petofi
Mr. Drew in 1840, just to see what kind of man considered Lamar Trask to be an ideal match for his daughter
Mrs. Timothy Stokes from PT. I don't think she was dead, just gone. What exactly drove her away?

Well, that's a logical assumption but, barring any further information, just an assumption. It might be interesting to see how long she stayed in the marriage. Did she try to counter the influence of her husband and his sister. Obviously, it didn't work with Angelique but I would have liked to see how the family dynamic affected Alexis.
